more track speed on a Vector

I have the ultimax belt. I have a hartman custom cut helix and put the spring in the same hole that it came out of with the Yamaha helix. Not quite sure which one it was, but I believe it was in hole 6. Which way would I want to move it?

I haven't done it recently, but I think you can see the stamped number 6 on the outer(helix). The inner hole(sheave) has holes as well that should have stamped numbers. Put one end of the spring in the 3 and one in the six. Then hold the sheave part steady and twist to line up the helix on the bolt towers. The harder it is to twist(when you change hole positions), the tighter it squeezes the belt. This is a very simplistic description, but will get you started.

I will have to try that for next weekend. Is it going to eliminate slip or what will the result be?

I am not sure what to expect for that elevation. I know I helped my belt slippage with the 6-3 twist and a different belt. I'm thinking your backshift should be a little better (downshifting), your upshift a little slower, however, if your using a steeper helix from Hartman...this will be countered somewhat.
I have a theory that part of the problem with the performance of the 4 strokes is that the clutching has not been worked out on the first 2-3 years of the models. There is a lot of untapped performance left in the clutching because they were not used to the power curve difference. They've got a better handle on it now, but the wide power band with great low end torque really allows a lot of variations in clutch set up that 2 strokes can't do. So, you need to sit down with someone who has a lot of experience tuning 4 strokes (kinda rare) in different situations, and tell them what your wanting out of the machine. The problem is when these guys are the salesman.
I really do like the motor, the fuelie was a great improvement, but I am wishing for a big bore triple with 150+hp. The DBII frame is a much better handling frame for the triple, but they didn't make a long track version with the fuelie...yet. I'm not convinced the Nitro is the answer to my prayers. They need to work on some issues before I will fork over that kind of cash.

I think I may try it out tomorrow, changing the spring position is pretty simple so I might just do it in the parking lot tomorrow morning and bring the tools with me to adjust while riding. I do ride with a few real knowledgable Yamaha guys that have their Apex's tuned in real good that have helped me along quite a bit. I will have to ask them what they are running for gears in their apex's to give me an idea of what I should do with my Vector. I am starting to think that that could be the issue now.

Krentz you really geared up? Wow I did not like it geared up seemed to rob power in the powder.

I like the pull of the multi angle helix that Tom sends out but it does lack back shift. I think going back to the stock seconday spring with the tighter wind would be the answer. I do not ride it anymore so I have not played with it all that much this year.

I have the Nytro and I love it!! I think it is overpriced though. The GF got it for me for xmas
