i got the same gps and really like the way you mounted it. i keep mine in the tank bag. Where did you get your mount from?

Great mount!!!!! That makes me want to get a new GPS with map, if only you could get District 13 and 17 in Ontario on map.

I mounted my Lowrance there also. You will like it there.

Nice. You will like the Garmin and Ram mount. The Ram mount never moves even on the roughest trails. You have a great location selected, I think I am going to switch mine over to the same. Thanks for the pic.

Like I said above, it was real easy. First I held the mount in place where I wanted it and traced it. Then I just removed the 4 handlebar mounting bolts, took out the riser and drilled the 2 holes. I used 6mm bolts and locking nylon nuts with washers. It came out pretty clean. I'm not a big fan of drilling holes in something. I usually like to attach stuff like this with something less intrusive like the handlebar U bolt set up they make but I felt like this would probably look nicer and be more stable. Also, the bolts don't go all the way through the riser and out the front. Since the riser is hollow I just used shorter bolts. There is plenty of room to get your fingers in there to thread them on then you just reach in with a wrench and tighten.

Nice job, Im gonna have to Jimmy rig something up something for mine.
I dumped the stock riser .
I have the Roxx adjustable risers on mine, so Ill have to do some homework.
How does the cold effect the GPS?, as of now I put it in the top of my tank bag but its near impossible to see at any time.
I also plug mine with the adapter cord to the power power plug on the Apex.

GPS

That looks like a good way to mount a GPS. I have the same unit. I tried to use it one time before I had the cigarette lightet plug. It was a blizzard day about 0 F out.

My GPS would not work. It indicated that the batteries were dead even though they were brand new. I will always plug mine inot the cigarete lighter from now on.
I have the heated face shield hard wired to the cigarette lighter jack.

I have a handle bar mount on the other end of my ram mount for my GPS. It works great and you can't see it when the pad is on. I also do not have the stock riser any longer.

Look at my post in the thread, you'll see how I mounted mine.

Great mount location I've had mine there for the last couple of years and it works great. One thing you need to be aware of though. On the 60Cs I had the mounting stud on the back of the unit break off. I was running the Attak on a whooped out trail at an extreme high rate of speed. When I stopped and waited for My buddies the first one behind Me pulls up and says "Hey look what someone threw away!" I couldn't believe it broke off. The Ram mount was intact doing what is was supposed to do but there was no 60Cs in the mount. Luckly Garmin is a great company and they repaired it for next to no cost. (can't remember if it was free or twenty bucks???? I was happy though) I then last year put the 60Cs on the Phazer Mtn. Lite and went back to the E-trex legend on the Attak. The Legend has a complete cradle and I think its a stronger setup than the post on the back of the 60Cs. Besides I would rather have the 60Cs on the bushsled.

I attached the wrist strap to the unit and I run it around my handlebars so if the mount does break, the GPS will swing from the handlebars instead of falling off and getting lost.

I have the Quest 2 and just use a suction plate that you can get from Garmin for a couple bucks and then use the suction mount that came with the Garmin Quest 2. Plugs right into the cig lighter and wa la!

I made my own GPS holder.. first i made it out of cardboard, then flatened it and traced it onto a piece of stainless steel scrap i had (old mudflap)

COST $0

TIME 2 HRS

and it wont rust
