MPI extension and rear heat exchanger?

I'm not sure there is a need for it, but the sled is an '05 and it's oem equip. So this is what I did. My cuz has an '03 MTN and the very first trip out West (REVY) his was overheating. Funny thing is, he hasn't had a problem since!

Flamanguy, you did the same mod as I did and I have over 2000 miles on my 05 mtn and have not ripped out the heat exchanger. The only thing I will recommend is to replace the rivets you used, I apologize that I dont know the technical term, but I call them structural rivets. Instead of pulling the stem out of the rivet when you compress it they leave part of the stem in it and also crush the sides down to form a larger holding area as compared to the ones that pull through that only slightly enlarge. You should be able to get them from your Yamaha dealer. They are the ones at the end of your heat exchangers on the running boards, take a look you will see the difference. The only reason I mention this is that I did my Hartman extention with the rivets he supplied which were not the structural ones and had to re do them a year later when I noticed they werent holding up at all. Hope this helps, Great job on the brackets!
