I had just gotten an MPI Trail Turbo installed at my dealership, they said it was going to be 1600 for the install, does that seem to be a little high for the price? I was under the impression that it was a simple bolt on kit that wouldn't take any longer than 6 hours to install? The dealer also said that the machine revs a little higher and recommends a clutch kit which I completely agree with but I am wondering if its going to hurt that machine if I drive it for the remainder of the season IE two weeks with it reving a little higher? not a happy camper as I haven't drove the sled since feb. 27th and its been in the shop the last 3 weeks.

Dealer told my friend. 8 to 10 hours @ $80 ish per hour.
It was their first install so they settled on 9 hour flat rate.
It took more than that so dealer ate the rest. They felt they should be able to do the next one in 9 hours or less.

You can drive it without the clutch kit but you will not be able to hammer on it without hitting the rev limiter.
Order the kit & drive it under the rev limiter until you get it installed. Should not cause any damage.

my dads was the first time our dealer did one and it took them 3 full days... buy they only charged 1000 to put the turbo and clutch kit in. There hourly rate it $75 so i think treated us really well.

I just Spring ordered an XTX-LE with the MPI turbo option. All three quotes I got to install with the purchase were between $600-$1000. Shop rate is around $100/hour here. Everyone I talked to said it was a 10hour job but that it was very well thought out so that all wiring and other stuff is not in the way or in danger of being affected.

We installed 2 turbo kits one weekend on our sleds, so not sure why it took your dealer 3 weeks? wow talk about taken your time. I could see it maybe taken 6 hours if you had done a few before but not on the first install, its really like a 8hour job to take your time and do it right if you have experience . We took more time to install, I'm picky.
Yes you need clutch work but I don't see a problem with riding out the rest of the season, just be mindful of your revs and get it done before next season. We rode a weekend on the stock clutch no problems, just take it easy and enjoy.

MPI customer service is outstanding also. I have spoke with Matt and Mac both at MPI and they always have the answer. When Mac calls you and says call any time if you have questions and here is my cell phone number, thats customer service above and beyond the line of duty in my book .
