Hey, any of you sledheads that are going to be (or would like to be) in the central U.P. next weekend, here's some details I found on other website(s) about the upcoming race.................
the race will start from the city dock,3 miles of wide open ice running to grand island onto the island for 6 miles back onto the ice for 3 more miles into christmas ,down reindeer run towards autrain. mixed terrian, cross m28, 21 miles of forest service roads, not groomed but some high speeds should not be a problem,at aproximately 35 miles there will be a secondary gas stop every one will have to stop at m94, locally known as 8 mile corner. its approximately 8 miles from munising by car, very easy to drive to.next 7 miles of trail will be 100 foot wide forest roads mostly straight wide open will be common. 3.2 miles of grommed trail ,will be speed controlled at 30 mph dont worry itll be a good rest for a few minutes,1.4 miles very tight terrian, back onto 100 foot wide forest road for 8 miles to the side of m28 for 4 miles of wide open ditch runnning back to wetmore.this will be your last chance for top speeds to make up time. 1 mile south on h-13 side of road speed controlled.then last 6 miles back to munising, tight trail, city streets back to city dock, streets will be snow covered and speed limits.have fun.

call 1-906-387-5300 and talk to kevin kolbus as he is laying out the course but from what I understand the race starts in munising goes out and around grand island and then uses mainly old forestry roads that are unplowed and should get rough. 75 mile loops with pro classes running two laps friday and two laps saturday.
