I bought a barely used 2006 apex gt with 800 miles on it. Two days ago I went out to start it and only heard relay clicking and fuel pump pressurizing thought maybe battery was shot so hooked up charger with " start" setting and still just clicked for a bunch of times then finally
Started. I let It run for a while and it started fine rest of day. The next day same thing again so I removed airbox and only found some corrosion at the starter post. Cleaned and figured that took care of it but after sitting overnight same issue again!!! Also the temperature outside has dropped to single digits.
I'm thinking starter relay or solenoid but lookin for some input..

Take the battery out, and get it load tested. If it has been sitting that much without being started or ridden, it may have gone dead. I would also make sure the battery isn,t dry, and put it on a trickle charge for a day or so. If it doesn,t hold a good charge, replace the battery. Congrats on finding yourself a great sled. Enjoy it.

If the battery checks out, it's the relay. Take it off the sled and put it in the oven for a bit at the lowest setting to dry it out. Keep an eye on it while doing this, you only want to dry it out. Put it back together with dielectric grease. If it happens again after that, put a new one on.

Ok I'll give your suggestions a try. I don't think it's the battery because it sometimes starts after turning key a bunch of times. Definately act like relay, I'm also gonna try jumping
Relay to see if it fires then..

Sounds exactly like what mine was doing last year. Dealer put in new starter relay under warranty and it's worked fine ever since.

I haven't had a chance to dig into the starting
Issue but did go out and try to start it
Yesterday and it fired right up but the day before it would only click. The difference was it was much colder the previous days in the single digits but
Once the weather warmed up it fired up. Personally I also think it's the relay has some moisture in it and freezes up and won't allow contact til warmer weather and melts. I'm gonna replace relay tomorrow and see
If relay has moisture in it after I open it up, with a sledge hammer!!!

Thanks all for your help and ideas!!!

It's the starter relay it only does it when its cold my skled did the same thing. The moisture freezes in there. If you hold the key usually 30 seconds to 2mins it always fires the relay get warm enough from holding the key.

My bet is the starter solenoid. My RX was doing the same thing. A new one took care of it.

Anyone have the part # for the 2011 Apex relay ?
How is it better ?

Hey darv, Is the 2011 relay better, different ? than the 06-10 models ??
