just got back from my first long ride , probably not long for alot of you but it is for me .
Anyway I put on just over 1000 kms , we went from Hailebury (ont) to new liskard and to kirkland lake then to cochran then to timmins and back to kirkland lake then back to hailebuy.
Trails were great , fast not many sleds .
First of all my m10 is awsome , still need to set it up a bit but still a big improvement, the front end now seems stiff so I am going to try the stock sway bar back in with the longer links and I might try the no sway bar thing too.
As for oil usage , I used to use aobut 1ltr/1000km and I tried the seafoam and did not use hardly any this time . We ran pretty hard everyday too.
I was with 3 revs and all 3 had minor problems , 2 blew belts (within 2 miles of each other ?) and the othe needed a set of plugs and had recoil problems the whole trip, which was taken apart and fixed/cleaned in kirkland lake.
I had zero problems and had the best milage (not by much over the 550 fan rev)
All in all we had a good trip and I still love my Yamaha

I've never heard of anyone pulling out the swaybar completely. But I haven't read all the posts. Whats this all about?

Was riding my buds F-7 and the swaybar fell off onthe trail. He rode it back that way and refuses to put it back on. Rough trail he says it is ten times better. Only drawback is more roll in the corners on smooth trails, but that doesn't bother him as he uses a lot of body in the turns anyways.

ya thats how most cats get dialed in you just drive them till enough parts fall off and decide if you like it.

I read a post here somewhere about I think the title is anyone try this . Whoever said that they took the swaybar out and found it handled better and flatter?
I have talked to my yamaha friend about this and he said they (yamaha) used to do this when they raced way back when.
this way in the stutters only one side needs to move , with the sway bar in if one ski goes down it can make the front end drop .
I dont know what will work and what wont but I know this is one thing I can try that finally wont cost me money
Ger
ps If I find the post I will put up link

i know the mountain guys are pulling out the swaybars for better handling when boondocking, but I haven't heard of any trail guys doing it. :ORC

Grader.That cracked me up!
I suppose it wouldnt be hard to try. Just remove links.

Better yet, make one link bolt a quick change pin and disconnect it at will. On the trail hook it up, when you get off into the deep stuff, disconnect it. Only have to unhook one side to do away with the effect. I think I might give it a try. We run disconnects on our dirt racecars swaybar to adjust the handling from the cockpit. Might work well as trail conditions change.
