driving my 3rd apex I tried diffrent set ups. all 3 sleds from diffrent dealers all handled bad and darted all needed ski allinement 1st was woodys dually stopped darting pushed bad in corners next bergstrom tripple pts and shims all around worked good next slim jims worked great didnt last 1000 mi next shaper bar handled great darting was back went to stud boy duece bar all around worked great latest was tuner ski with 4in and 6 in worked great when trails were icy as we got more snow and warm they pushed in corners they need a deeper keel which I think is comming most recently went back to studboy deuce bar 6 in and feel this the best all around bar although tuner ski works great on my nytro I ride about 3000 mi per year pretty agressive and is just my unprofessional opinion

Being you spent all that money spend another $200 ish and try SnowTracker's.

Ya I got to try my new-to-me 2011 Apex for the first time yesterday with brand new semi-aggressive SnoTrackers on it....after riding an 02 Viper for the last 8 years, I can't believe a sled can handle this good...wow! I'm totally impressed with this sled. It had brand new Shaper bars on it and I never even bothered wasting time with them because the previous owner said it darted. Worth every penny...Hopefully it handles this good when we have more snow, as it was very icy.

It will handle the same in loose snow as well!

Awesome ;)! As we're supposed to get 10" to 16" of new snow tomorrow up here in New England. Hopefully the clubs will still be grooming...

darting is usually a function of the sleds suspensipn setup....best all around handling on a apex with no darting is simmons skis...awesome!

Sorry I will disagree on that statement. And yes I have run shim's and rode a friends sled with the Bergstrom full kit. etc, etc. You should not and do not have to change or sacrifice any suspendtion set up to make your ski's not follow other track's. Try the SnowTracker's and you will know what I am talking about.
And you don't have to sacrifice MPH or MPG loss from dual keel ski's to have bite or perfect tracking either.
I have been through all of this and spen't a load of money along the way.
SnowTracker's solves it all and they wear very well to boot.

I would have to disagree as well.

Simmons are good but they steer hard and push in soft snow. Not good traits if you ask me. Not awesome trail ski's at all IMHO. Off trail, Simmons are a very nice ski.

2006 to 2010 factory Yamaha ski with Aggresive Sno Trackers is the best setup for an Apex, [all years] RX 1 or Vector for the trail.

Been there done that with multiple ski's ,Carbides shim's etc on the above 3 models of our sleds.

Simmons are great ski's! They have issues such as hard steering on rock hard trails. Power steering solves that little issue! They do push a bit in fresh loose snow. I loved them on a chewed up trail and now that Ski-Doo has stopped putting the same style ski's on thier sleds they work very well.

Best thing I liked about Simmons is they float so nice in the powder. That is the problem with both the tunner ski and the stock ski with snotrackers. They won't float! By the looks of it you can't get snotrackers for the mountain ski. :o|

I think the tunner ski was designed fo the Nytro!

Kviper, what do you have your suspension settings at? The guy I bought my sled from had the limiter straps sucked all the way up, and the mono shock set two notches softer than the middle setting, and transfer was in the middle. He did all this to try to eliminate darting. I set the straps in the middle holes and stiffened the mono up to one notch softer than the middle, and left transfer in the middle, and it handles like a dream. Is this close to stock settings? I had Kimpex Arrows on my Viper, basically same thing as the Tuners and it still darted. You also said in another thread to set the toe to zero with Trackers? I didn't see that in my instructions.

The semiagressive were always available for the mountain ski's? And as I stated in an earlier post the guy's that had the mountain ski's with Tracker's thought they were the chit. I think the bolt pattern is the same so I don't know why they would not work.

Skis

I've never read a bad thing about Snow Trackers. Dont know why every Apex owner doesnt have them.
ZERO darting for $200. Done.

I changed nothing for tracking as far as suspendtion set up. I have my sled set up for hole shot, limiter one hole up from stock (I think they come with the limiter all the way out), max transfer, softest setting on the dial. on the aggressive's there is a very small sticker on the package with set up instruction's and I think the instruction's may only be on the 11 and newer sled's.
With the Tracker's you should not notice any change in tracking based on suspendtion set up.
So I take it you have the Tracker's on, made the changes and it track's and handles excellent? You should be able to set the suspendtion for the ride/transfer/flat cornering you want and let the Tracker's deal with tracking.

Every Apex should come with at least semiagressive Tracker's.
I should get a free pair just from all the Tracker's that they sold from people taking my sled for a ride! :tg:

I'd have to agree with you as well, mind you i really like my new SYLDOGS, there is almost zero darting.....just the odd time depending on conditions. Tryed a Apex with the SNOWTRACKERS...ZERO ZERO DARTING and was much easier to steer than i thought.....Next Thing On My List Of Add Ons :sled1:
