I have an '05 RX1 that I took apart suspecting the donuts may be bad. Found they were real bad, and the right Y pipe had wear through from the clamp. It looks like it could be welded, but how many welders do Titanium? Has anyone tried an alternative repair like Permatex Hi temp metal repair or tried Versa Chem Inferno metal repair? Orrrrrrr.......
Does anyone have a right side Y pipe for an '05 for sale?
Thanks

I would go to a welding supply shop. They can cross-reference the material to a suitable filler rod. Then weld it up or take it to a welder to have them weld it up.

Switch out both pipes with "SS" ones from a 03'-04' RX-1. A touch heavier but no more cracking problems that the 05"s were known for.

I would normally weld it myself, except titanium requires a near 100% argon shield. Apparently this metal is welded in a bubble enclosure filled with argon gas. I would think few welding outfits would have that in their shop. Any leads on '03-'04 RX1 Y pipes?

I had the same problem last year on my 05. I went with the stainless tubes. Should not have the same problem again.

Re: y pipe
Send a pm to LANEO on the site. He parts out sleds and I've bought a number of parts from him in the past.

You can weld your pipes with a tig or if not available you can use a mig with a stainless wire will work fine, last chance you can use mild steel wire but it will rust and won't have as good of a crack resistance.

I was told the 03-04 or 06 or newer will NOT work on the 2005, so can someone who actually made the change for the Y pipes shed some light on this matter? I need to know the if pipes definitely will or will not fit - Y pipes from 03 or 04 and the flex pipes and the rear section from the 05...or does the whole thing have to be replaced? I need first hand knowledge please.

The early pipes WILL fit on your sled. I have the same sled with the early SS pipes...they bolt right on.
I may have a set left over as well...I'll check.

What DoktorC said: I also have 04 pipes on my 05 RX1. I used the older ones beause it was suggested not to get the 05 pipes Swain Teck coated as the 05 pipes could warp from retaining too much heat.

I have an 05 warrior and just replaced my titanium pipes with the stainless ones. Seemless transition. Same issue, bad donuts took out the y-pipes.
