I previously owned an mpi s/c phazer and could never get it to run well, I swore I'd never own another boosted sled. Well I found a good deal on an mcx rear turbo phazer mtx. It is said to run 12psi, head shim and pump fuel. Are these well designed, reliably running set ups? How does the fuel controller work, like a power commander with up loadable maps? Who offers them? Any tips on what to look for? Thank you very much in advance! I'm potentially going to pick it up tomorrow (sat)morning.

Depending on what year the turbo kit was made, there have been some upgrades on it.
Also beware of the danger of fire under the gas tank....

How can you tell when the kit was made and if it was updated? How can you protect against the gas tank fire issue?

I have not been active with this sled since 2010, I think you have to search this forum for more and updated information and answers.
The exhaust tubing and flexible part can crack and cause trouble. There are updated flexible pipes available, I think. Has to be welded.

I got some of the first kits early in 2007, and got some upgrade parts then and a year later.
It replaced the rubber hose with metal tubing for the turbo pressure under the seat, and some heat wrapping for the exhaust. Don't know if anything else was updated. The kit was discontinued after a few years.

They were made for 2-3 years, as far as I know. No phazer kits on their web site http://mc-xpress.com/
