I have been riding sleds for 20+ years and about to take a jump into unknown territory. Looking at purchasing my first yammi as well as my first turbo. I have spent alot of seat time on different turbos thanks to friends but never owned my own.
Sled is a 08 nytro-mcx set to 15lbs. Dealer installed. Head shim/cam timing I am told but dont know the specifics. Cammo extreme track, simmons gen2s, better boards rest is pretty much stock.
I know I will eventually need a skid but that will come in time.
Riding area: Golden/Revelstoke
Mileage: Approx 2000km per year in mountains at least
Style: Tearing up pow and climbing within reason.
Weight:215-With nothing but a smile
Now the questions begin.
What Rpms should I be aiming to tune too? Which leads to next question of what is approx clutching/gearing set up? It has a shockwave set in the secondary and thats all i know for sure.
The dreaded what fuel to run at 1500-7500ft? Dealer that installed kit says pump prem is fine and thats what the other sleds run at. The rider that owned it before me said he ran 50/50 pump/race to be extra safe.
Maintence/turbo basics. I do have a decent motor knowledge history and can rebuild a 2 stroke in my sleep but 4-strokers and turbos are new territory. I know the basics of a turbo set up but what do i need to look for/keep an eye on? Most of the t-4s i look at just look like a mess under the hood and hard to really keep eye on anything without a large tear down?
Mcx only comes with a boost gauge any need for an AFR guage?
Thanks-remember long time sledder but noob T-4Stroker

I can comment a couple of things, first your fuel q, @ 15lbs theres no need to mix fuel if you know you run good premium, if your uncertain of the quality it feels safer to mix in race gas, but you loose some hp and theres no need as long as it's premium.
You should run 8900rpm max, you find the specs here: http://www.mcx.se/product.asp?ID=160
with atlest a Yamaha White spring in the secondary, stock Pink is to soft, wrapped @ 60° (3-3). Did you get the MCX installationguide with the purchase, it's good to know how everything within the kit is connected, if the sled anytime gets a glitch, it may be a hose with a crack, or a hose with a loose clamp, ore a frosen hose = tip, check all the hoses as a maintence ;-).
Where is the MCX ECU placed?
The boostpreassure hose should be connected underneeth it, so that condensed water not could drain in to it.
The turbo has a oiltank underneeth it, check the 2 hex bolts that holds it, and retorque when needed, the temp changes makes them loose after a while, especially when new when gaskets sets, and when that happends it starts leak a little oil.
An AFR gauge is nice to have, i think it's almost as important as an Boost gauge, and how nice isn't it to hold WOT and stare atleast @ 3 gauges, RPM, Boost and AFR ;-). I can recommend to purchase their display, it shows in realtime all info you need AND logs it, so you don't have to stare at the gauges when you are hanging in the handlebars, you can transfer the logs to a computer and browse thru the data sitting in comfort on your sofa in the livingroom, how nice isn't that?

Thanks for the info T-bird. I pick up the sled on Sunday so will have some more feedback for this thread.
