Need advice on helmet

I believe this is my third season with the Gmax modular. I love it. As someone mentioned...when you lift the shield up the breath guard goes with it compared to like the HJC helmets in which the breath(pilot mask) guard doesnt go up with it. The Gmax is priced really good as well. One thing you will want to check on is the availability(if the dealer doesnt have them in stock). My brother just ordered one and they told him they are on back order and were not sure when it would be in. I think the Gmax is a hot ticket.

I HAVE THE BLACK EXO700 AND I AM ON MY 3RD HEATED SHEILD AND AT NIGHT I DO NOT LIKE THE GREEN LIGHT, ON THE LEFT SIDE SHINING INSIDE AT NIGHT. LOOKS LIKE SOME ONE IS TRING TO PASS AS THE LIGHT REFLECTS IN THE VISOR. I HAVE PARKED THAT HELMET AND GONE BACK TO MY OLD CAT ONE. ALSO THE 700 WAS VERY COLD

You have to be moving when the E-Shields are energized. All these E-Shields are subject to overheating when not moving for several minutes. Also, if you are energizing them in 30 degree weather, you also can burn them out. Also, they can fail from abuse to the connector. RCA connectors are NOT meant to be pulled to the side. When that happens the center female contact gets sloppy and thing gets no "juice."

i have exo 700 with e shield and it is the worst cold weather helmet i have had, do not buy one of these helmets for snowmobiling, you will not like it!!!!!!!!

i also have an exo 400.i was amazed how cold this helmet is..i guess i will use it for the streetbike instead..

Z1R Eclipse Snow Helmet, $210 + $80 heated shield
Chin Flip

I'm shopping as well, but I'm all done with non flip nonsense.
This allows you to stay warm with it closed and still talk with your friends without taking your helmet off.

Maybe one doesn't need the heated shield, but nice to know the option is doable.

So if anyone has found flip chin units that top this so far, then do jump right in. I don't care that much what it costs, as long as it's top of the line and works.

agv blizzard on sale at denniskirk.com. out of everyone i ride with they all have the heated shields and im the only one that never fogs up no matter how cold it gets and i DONT have my shield heated. the pilot guard by agv is amazing my dad and my buddy are now gettin the same

DISCLAIMER ALERT-I am brand new to riding and this is my first helmet in years.

My wife got me the Gmax 14X for Christmas, based on the sales guy rec. I took it riding for the first time a few weeks ago in Quebec, it was not that cold back in December up there, and it completely froze over at night time. When I say it froze, I mean I had to ride with the shield completely open for the last 20 miles of our ride, that really sucked big time and hurt my eyes. I went out the next night and wore my brother-in-law's BRP modular helmet with the regulator in it and it worked great, of course his helmet was more than $300.

I did not want my wife to feel bad about the purchase so instead of returning it I asked her to grab me a heated shield for the Gmax. I used the helmet this past weekend with the heated shield and I did not have any problems with it freezing over or fogging. My wife bought the same helmet with the shield and she liked hers as well this weekend, and it was pretty cold in Quebec.

The helmet is very comfortable and I like the modular design, but buying this helmet without the heated shield is a mistake, IMHO!

P.S. That closeout price is for a XS and a XXXL only, we paid $150 for our helmets and $75 for the heated shield.

I tried my wifes GMAX modular with electric shield north of Drummond Island on the ice in high winds, Worst FGDPOS I have ever worn in my life. I would had been better off just throwing it in the snow and wearing a hat. Just in case you're still not sure what I think about it, I hated it. In fact if someone wants, I will give it to you free. Just pay the shiping. (seriously) We went back to HCJ's w /electric shields. But at -27 deg in Canada with 60-70 mile an hour cross winds on the Magpie reservoir we still had too much wind entering around the shield. (even with a gerious amount a duct tape)

When I returned home we bought two BV2S's with the new style collett radios. No electric shield required any more. Eight of us using this very same set up and we love it. We wiill NEVER go back. :letsnow:

Love my Ski-doo BV2 helmet no fogging once you learn how to use it, and its warm, great vision also love the anti-glare shield that flips down.
