Went for the first ride this year. Went about 6 miles, felt something wrong. Looked at the secondary clutch and the buttons were like melted right down to the helix. The buttons were new last year. Rode all winter long with no problems. I went through looking at the clutches and they were in good shape before i left on the trip. What would cause this to do that?

The aftermarket buttons are junk. The Yamaha buttons should last many thousands of miles.

I made that mistake before by buying 3 aftermarket buttons at a fraction of the price for one Yamaha button. It turned out one of the aftermarket buttons fell out and when I took it apart they were all loose. So, it ended up costing more in the long run when I should have bought Yamaha ones in the first place.
