I've tried to turn my headlights on by holding thumb switch in the down position and turn the key to on position and waiting 8-10 sec for the lights to come on. Nothing happens, I mean the headlights don't come on.
I tried several different times using different intervals and lights don't come on.
This is a 2012 Vector LTX, so I'm not sure if that trick works on the new model year.
Can anyone help?

fuses, light bulb. I know older sleds some of the didnt turn on or were real dim until they go tup in running but most newer sleds arent like that. Check all the connections.

With the sled running? or just turning the ignition switch on?

Hold thumbwarmer switch down. Lift kill switch up. Turn key on. In a few seconds all lights including the dash lights will come on and no motor running. Nice feature.

Thanks, the only thing I wasn't doing was the kill switch part. I will need to try this now!

I just got back in from trying to turn my headlights on without starting the sled as you described, the head lights did not come on, but my dash lights did.
What year is your sled?

I'm thinking the same thing. If people are getting the headlights to come on without starting the sled please post your sled model and year.
thanks

I tried it on my 2010 Apex MTX just a bit ago, the guage cluster lit up and came on but no headlights. And I don't have HID's in that sled, so that's not it. I bet HID's won't light up either on others.

It works on my '06. Perhaps Yamaha changed it on the newer models.
