I installed the rider forward on my 03 Mtn TRX-1. I still need to make the cuts on the hood and cowl. Please post any pics of where to cut.
Also, I want to move the stock gauge to the old post hole. How do you do the wiring? All the wiring is enclosed in tape and loom. Do you just cut that off and you can pull the gauge wiring out and run it back? Are the wires spliced with any of the other wires that stay for the lights, etc.?
Please let me know any hints or tips before I tear into this today.
Thanks,
Lance

I did this mod but I fabricated everything I did not buy . Mount the post and I am sure you can figure out where to cut it. As for the wires its pretty much common sense. You remove the headlamp wires from the harness and move the rest. When cutting the plastic you have to figure it out by mounting the post and go from there. Cut a lil check the fit cut a lil more til it fits. Not to many people have done this mod so it dosent surprise me that you never got any replies in 4 hours and 40 minutes you had it posted. Maybe you shouldve posted it in the mountain section where more guys that have done this mod wouldve seen it.

Hey Lance,
On mine I used a 3.5"? piece of black drain tile end cap and it fit perfectly into the hole of the old post. I then mounted my guage to that. Shouldn't need to splice out any wires. I also removed my headlight so snow wouldn't come up the windshield and into my face. I have a similar setup to snowskiing's Vector. I mounted a single fog light to the riser and can turn it on and off with my old dimmer switch on the handle bars. I think it worked out well. There is a ton more info and pictures on the RX/RS Mountain section. That's where I got all my help and I believe I started a thread for it there.
Good Luck
Justin

Thanks for the response. I guess most are fortunate to have snow and are out riding. I am just frustrated with no snow and so much to get done before I could even ride. Wow there is a lot of parts on these sleds.LOL
I have the wiring torn apart now and ready to start making the cuts (finger are crossed). I hope I get it back together and it runs.LOL

you dont have to cut any wires. just seperate the guage harness from the headlamp harness.

Looks like there is one wire to cut. There is a thin yellow wire that is spliced into the thicker yellow wires. I am guessing that is the highbeam indicator??? Can I tap into a wire on the bars to get this signal or should I run a wire back to the thicker yellow wires?

Here are a couple photos of my Vector with the kit. I had to cut away quite a bit of the back of my cowling to gain the clearance to open the hood without it hitting on the bars. I'm running a 4" riser which is shorter than what most of the mountain guys run. You also need to notch the cowling to make room for the post. I relocated my gauge because the bottom of my riser was hitting it during full lock. I run a "T" style post with a Ski-doo riser. I ended up having to cut one wire on my gauge and spliced an extra length of wire in order for it to have enough length to locate the gauge above my tank. I also stripped off the tank cover and side panels. You can get an aftermarket tank cover cover that deletes the stock steering post hole nut I wasn't going to spend the money for appearance items on a sled I was XC racing.

Does anyone have a solution to the steering stop problem? If I turn hard, the post goes past the steering stops. This could be trouble while riding.LOL
I have contacted Wildchild about this and he is checking into it. He said I have the newer version of the kit and it's not supposed to do this. I will try and tinker with it today. If I can't get this problem solved, it's coming off. Not worth wrecking the sled over this kit.

I've not had any trouble with mine. The kit puts the post in the same position as the Apex and makes it a lot easier to ride the sled aggressively.

I figured it out. I was putting way too much pressure on the stoppers during testing. I bent the stopper plate and the Delta box. I straightened both of them and put another plate on the backside and it looks like it will work better now. I guess I put too much beef into it and bent things that normally shouldn't get bent with normal riding. I would rather find the problem now than on a trip and have someone get hurt riding the sled.
Thanks for all your help. I should have it back together in a couple hours. Just need to mount the gauge yet. Might wait until tomorrow.

Lance, did you just end up splicing a length of wire in to stretch the little yellow wire to the new location?
