I have an 09 rtx se Cobra track, extroverts,160 1.45 megabites. My current set up is 1 bolt 4 washer in shoulder, 1bolt 1 washers in center, nothing in tip or overdrive. The sled pulls hard but only pulls 92mph on a long run but revs to 9100. I think it should be more like 8800 to 8900 on top. Where do I need to add weight to lower the rpms. Also using red spring. Any help appreciated.

The 160 studs aren't helping you either... 96 is all you need with a Cobra in a Nytro. I only ran 144 in my Apex and that was enough. Drag racing the Apex, 168 studs, which includes studding the outside row...

Thanks Turk I will add the washers. Do you think I will see any increase in speed with the additional weight or will it just lower the revs. I do realize that the track, studs and extros are slowing me some but it would be nice to see 3 digits on the dream meter , but maybe thats not possible.

What is your engagment RPM with current setup?

I could not break 95 mph on my 08 shorty. Your studfs & especially the extroverts are really slowing ya down.

Just got a chance to make the changes to my d and f weights I was wrong about my original settings they are 1 bolt 4 washers in shoulder and 1 bolt 2 washers in center nothing in tip or overdrive. Should I still add 1 washer to each or just 1 in shoulder?

Add 1 to shoulder.

I just put these weights in my Nytro and rode it 80 miles last night with your suggestion of 1 bolt 5 washers in the shoulder and 1 bolt 2 washers in the center with tip and overdrive empty. Conditions were not the greatest but it seemed to run really strong on bottom and midrange but fall a little flat on top end where my brothers stock Nytro would start to catch back up. Any suggestions on how to make it pull harder from about 80 mph and up? I noticed the setup Randy recommended when I bought these was 1 bolt 6 washers in the shoulder, 1 bolt 2 washers in center, and 1 bolt 2 washers in overdrive. Can Turk or anybody comment whether I should try that setup or something else next? This is an 09 standard fx nytro with studs and a 200 lb rider. I seem to pull several sleds on the stock sled on bottom end and midrange so if I can get topend back all should be good. I think I am creeping up to about 9100 rpm on longer pulls yet as well.

Ran my sled today with same setup. You are getting same results as me. Pulls hard to 75-80 then flattens off like you said. I am also creeping to 9100. I didn't get any top end runs conditions weren't great, what are you seeing for top end speed.

Top end on a 3 cylinder 4 stroke is like asking a tricycle to do 20 mph downhill... I have been trying & trying setups all week, and with the D@Fs with secondary clutching the most I get is 107 on GPS consistently.... I have given up on anything more... I think I can pull all other RTX and XTX setups though. Stock clutching on stock xtx has good top end... hoping to adjust gears to make up the 3-4 mph difference. Will see and will post results in the future.
