Need Warm Gear Advice for FX Nytro

Sheetwright- I use the under armer (older style) and have no problems with the base layer staying wet from sweat. Any product that has less than 20%-30% cotton content should work fine for the base layer. I feel that the right base layer and a good outer shell will keep most riders warm.

FXR all the way, where I ride a normal day is -25 Northern Manitoba, no problems staying warm, I have the FXR jacket, YAMAHA FXR bibs gloves, ZIR intake helmet scott hi voltage sno x goggles, yamaha boots, oh underarmour coldgear base layer. If I need an additional layer I wear a fleece jacket with my insulated jacket, suit is all black.

any polypropelene under garments will work, name brand or not. The key is layers. If temps rise you can always peel layers, plus the polypro keeps moisture away from your skin which prevents chills.

the guy is a sales rep for klim canada ;)! il try out the thermal pants and shirt for snowmobilers before i go and buy the klim stuff.... btw i have the klimate parka and bib, what should i really wear under with this suit then?
I am not sure what the "Therma" gear is but if it stays along the line of moister wicking non cotton/wool fabric then it will work, The under layers are really not that expensive compared to the parka and bibs, if you went as far as buying the top of the line Klim snow gear why not spend a extra 300.00 and complete the set. Mixing brands and fabrics will only alter the end result of the expensive gear you layed down good money for. Nike and Under Armor stuff is probaly just as $$$$$. Just my 2cents.

I use a complete Klim setup except for my helmet.

Valdez jacket
Extreme bib
All Klim layers including briefs
gloves
socks
boots

lol io think about it and i would go for the full deal but new 2009 sled and with the new klim gear my budget for this year is already broken!! itll have to wait next year but thanks for the advice il keep it in mind

If you want bang for you buck go with the FXR flotex system. IF you are an active rider it may be too much, I used to sweat wearing that stuff, I finally went back to my team yamaha jacket with gore tex pants, Not too heavy. It will be interesting on the new SE how cold I get or if I go back to the flotex. What ever you do make sure it is gore tex!!!!

My wife and I purchased $2500 worth of Klim gear last year at the Milwaukee Snow Show. I was tired of purchasing OEM clothing and then switching sleds to only have to re-purchase new OEM gear to match the sled. The Klim gear is all black that matches anything.

Wearing the Klim gear, I was warm for the most part on a '08 Nytro RTX compared to what was currently offered by the OEM's. But when we took our Canada trip in February '08 and the air temp hit -18F. There is simply nothing out there to keep you warm at that point. But for the majority of the winter weather riding we did the Klim gear flat out rocked! Make the investment.

I spent the wad last year, and bought the Yamaha Team gear, comes with an inner liner in the jacket, bib pants and matching gloves. From what I experienced last March here in northern B.C, I would never think twice about it. The quality is great, no issues and after busting through some ice on a creek and sinking my sled, I went swimming at -10C, came out, fell in a second time moments later and I was basically dry, other then my feet got wet (4 year old Sorel boots) I ended up walking a bit after, yet I stayed warm, my gloves were c_ck stiff, but kept my fingers were warm as well.
The stuff breathes and is always warm, just make sure it fits right when new. This is my second set of Yamaha gear and I never regretted the old stuff either, well worth it!

THe Old Leathers will and a that's about it... I still have my old ski-doo leathers and I wear them when it's colder than -20..

Normal riding is -20F here. I pull out the Old 04 Ski-doo X team Nylon jacket, and put on a T shirt, long sleeve t shirt, and sometimes a light sweatshirt......ride all year like that and don't get cold. Its all in the gear. KLIM is oriented for warm MTN riding, not extreme cold. I love my Klim Klimate Jacket, but it doesn't hold a Candle to my Doo jacket in the extreme cold.

FXR Flotors (cause we ride lakes in Ontario)

and the bar none warmest and Best helmet is the BV2S.....I used it in -40 and stay really warm and fog free.....actually its TOO warm on the warm spring days
