Hello all! This is quite the website. I recently purchased a new 2007 RS Venture GT. Just curious about what I need to look out for. I've been reading about the problems with the slides on earlier models. The dealer installed the 4th wheel kit which I understand is Yamaha's fix for the problem. Any suggestions as far as the break-in procedure goes and what not would be appreciated as this will be my first 4-stroke.

Congrats on the new sled, I just bought the same sled, received it yesterday..I am putting Woody diullies on it as soon as we get enough snow, I was told for break in just run it but don't hold it at one RPM for any length of time..After about 600 kms to change the oil, greese it up..Everybody has a little different instructions...What type of oil are you using ??? Someone said Yamaha went to a full synthetic but I asked the dealer and he said it was only semi ( Canada anyways )..What are your plans for the sled (accessories) ???

I've got an 05 vector with 2,500 miles.. You will like the motor on your sleds.. I've used yammie 0-30 semi syn oil with no problems.. What will surprise you guys is how they start in very cold weather...Be sure at cold start-ups to let it idle long enough so the red warning light goes out before putting load on it. As far as the break-in goes... Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Ask 50 guys, get 50 answers.. I broke mine in by the throttle up-throttle down method.. Try not to just hold it in one place for very long.. Good luck, have a great season.. MM.

Thanks for the info. I haven't picked it up yet probably sometime this week. I was thinking about putting a different set of carbides on it before the snow flies.

go with bergstrom tripple points, I hated the way the OEM carbides turned and handled!!

I thought I read on this site that Yamaha sends their sleds from the factory without grease. It is the dealers responsibility to grease them. Make sure your dealer uses a good quality low temp. grease. You might want to think about adding 2 wires for the sheild warmers for yourself and the passanger.

What is a shield warmer and what is meant/accomplished by adding the two wires.
Also does the 07 not have that extra set of wheels on it from the factory? Does this mean there really was no change between the 06/07's other than bold new graphics (ie that an 06 can be retrofitted just as easy as the 07)?
thanks

The shield warmer that Shivesy refers to is for an electric helmet shield I believe. I believe the wheels came from the factory. I asked him about that one after seeing numerous posts on here about having to add an extra set to help with hyfax wear. An interesting thing he told me was that the dealers were all sent the extra wheel kit for the previous model ventures to put on from Yamaha. He told me that alot of dealers just added them to their inventory rather than contacting the owners to have them installed.
I wired my sled for the heated shield, ran it into the fuse box...Yes there is a another set of wheels installed in the skid.....
