RS Venture and jackshaft failures

RS have a different lock shim.
Your way is not a one beer thing either....more like a case
I don't recommend to tap the inside race of your bearing when this is the outside that you squeeze in.

- If the RS jackshaft bearing is different than my 2003 RX-1 my procedure will not apply
- No you're right, figuring out the proceedure of removing the bearing and making the tool was more like a sixpack of beer LOL. With the procedure figured out and the tool made up, it was more like half a beer, me drinking and my buddy removing the bearing.
- I agree, you shall not tap with any amount of force on the inside race when installing a bearing. The frame was heated with a heat gun and the bearing was frozen so it slid into place with ease, I did only tap the inner race very gently with the locing collar install tool to make sure the bearing had seated correctly. The bearing is not that fragile so I took my chances tapping on it.

Yes there is Jackshaft service bulletins for a certain number of Ventures.
My 2005 model Venture had a bulletin like that an the jackshaft was changed.
What about 2006-2008 models of Ventures.
Any recalls of jackshafts here ?
Same VIN numbers ?

crankshaft would be a new one on me. The 3 cyl has been Yamahas most reliable engine.

It was, until mine failed! Their first one apparently! Suuure!
Exhaust valve cracked, destroying the head and valve guide. Dealer didn't think Yamaha would fix it. I told the dealer fix it, or keep it!
Four strokes are supposed to last!
