Greetings, new 2021 venture rs waiting to be picked up at dealer. Any suggestions on break in or just follow manual? Will do alot of lake cruising and will need scratchers, type? Brand? Will have girlfriend on back 90 percent t of the time, together we will tip the scales at 380 lbs. Leave suspension at max preload or close to it to start? Any advice or insight welcomed. Thanks in advance.

you bought the right sled for your cargo load..my wife and I never bottomed out on our 2016 rs venture tf...we did once on the sidewinder 2up but the ride setting were for 1 rider at the time. if you're lake riding then your going to love that sled, the times I rode on the lake is where this sled excelled, I could open it up to past the drone zone and that big windshield really kept the cold off us....the RS TF is a very comfortable sled and comparable to couch lol. I would pay attention to approach to snow banks and take them on straight..taking banks on the side on this sled can cause rollover...its a bit tippy..beside that its an awesome sled. Having owned a TF I would suggest the rope cable type scratcher as you don't have to get off the sled to back up..congrats and good luck with your new sled...just my honest opinion. Joe

no steady throttle for the 1st 100 miles and then after that hold it to the bar.. LOL, thats what I do, and make sure you do the 1st 500 miles oil change and checks.

Also I would not do any wide open pulls until after 100 miles.

congrats on the sled!

for an rs venture tf,

before riding it i would do a few suspension settings. flip it on its side or support the rear of the sled and loosen the front skid shock until the spring is stiff to turn by hand on the shock. helps keep the nose down. leave the rear torsion springs on meduim unless you are bottoming a lot when 2 up. one up, put them on soft. if you can get some one to check the transfer block with both of you sitting on the sled on flat ground, no dollies under the sled, it should be at 50/50 for the best ride.

once the rear is set, set the front a arms so that they are almost parallel to the ground. then double check the toe out and run it.

i tend to break mine is the 1st season by varying the throttle the whole season with no sustained wot rips until after the 1st 500 mile oil change. for the 1st couple of runs the 2nd season and on, i vary the throttle for the 1st tank of gas to let every thing free up from sitting before i let the sled eat.

Appreciate the feedback. Looked hard at the ski doo but turbos make me nervous. Getting it set up right the first time is important. I will do my own maintenance, or at least teach myself too. Will post pictures when I bring her home.

this sounds like really good advise...I wish I had this info as I had no clue on setting up my TF..I know mine wasn't set up right on the front shocks..it needs down pressure to get it to turn better from stock.
