has anyone had a problem with a new track ending up too short to instal suspension? i have a new camoplast 9924 151"x1.25" ripsaw that i am instaling on an 03 rx-1 shorty. i instaled the stock mountain rear drop bracket. then bolted the rest of the suspension where it belongs, and the track is waaaaay too tight. the only way i can even come close to getting one bolt in middle bracket is by loosening track all the way, transfer rod bolts on last threads, limiter strap tightened all the way, shocks on softest setting. what am i missing? or is this track actually too short? i ordered this track from beldon motorsports in N.Y. and was wondering if anyone has been able to return a deffective track? am i stuck with a 510$ piece of rubber now? thanks for any help. :o|

short

i think that your problem mite be with the mtn drop bracket as the mtn supesion use differnt arm,s .

i can get the bolts in the rear most bracket easily. its the middle bracket i cant mount to tunnel, cause it binds on tight track. gonna try removing rear shock.

Are you sure the mountain drop brackets are supposed to be installed in the same spots as the shorty's rear brackets?

i'm sure drop bracket is in correct place because there are about 7 holes that need to line up to instal it. i got the suspension in by removing rear shock first. all bolts and the shock are in. now the track is just barely loose enough for spec, and the adjusters are loosened all the way. problem now is the lock nuts do not lock anymore, not enough thread. funny thing is i measured the track and it is 150.5" long. seems to me that is close enough to 151". any suggestions.

unbolt the transfer rod bolts from the rails. this makes it easier to install middle bolts. if this dosent work its either the mt. brackets causing the problem, or the track is too short. if its the track, it will be covered under warrenty. measure it first.

also, i noticed that the mountain tunnel is identical to the shorty tunnel, so that rules out bracket placement issues. and also i forgot to mention that i am instaling a stock 151" mountain skid.

oh, did not know that! how sure are you? that did come across my mind, but figgured it cant be different! let me know.

the mt. sleds had 8 tooth drivers, the shorties have 9 tooth, and my sled has 10 tooth and a speedometer that is bang on.

thanks! would you run her this way, or should i instal 8 tooth. i like the gearing i have now, and i have a cure for the adjusters.

mtn

thats right grader. we did one like this coverted a mtn to 9 tooth drivers yes it was tight but once the track streched it was fine. and talk about some thing that will go through snow wow. ;)!
