New guy thinking of buying a nytro. Few questions.

How are you guys dealing with icing in the tunnel??? This would be my major concern with buying a nytro. The whole exhaust is exposed!!! Is it possible to shield the header and re-route the rest above the tunnel? I assume the muffler is the same unit as the phazer so you would want to shed those 20 lbs anyways.

Why would it be a major concern? A pain in the butt, maybe, because of the extra weight, but it's nothing to really be concerned about.

Well, adding 50 lbs of ice to your machine would be a concern to me. I hated the Phazer until I solved this. The track rubs it and suspension travel is reduced because of it. Then you have to carry around a mallot to knock the ice off all the time. So I take it ice is a fact of life with a Nytro?

I think it depends on the climate you're living in. Here in Nfld I get alot of build up because I'm in alot of powder. Definetely cakes on the tunnel and running boards, but I don't know that it's much worse than any other sled playing in deep snow.

In colder places like Ont I used to get alot of ice build up underneath, which would eventually break loose and make scary noises inside the tunnel.

It's an issue that would be nice to solve, but not something that would ever keep me from owning the sled. There are certainly better reasons not to buy a Nytro if you're really looking for reasons not to like it.

this is how I solved it. I blocked the tunnel right off except for the hole for the exhaust to pass thru. however it can not be done like this with the stock exhaust.

We where out ridding two week ago and i looked at my wifes viper and guess what there was more ice in her tunnal then there was in my tunnal so i think that blown out alittle . I have no problems at all with my nytro i just cluched it and thats it ...

This bugs me quite a bit because you lose traction on the running boards. Plus the taillight gets covered in snow. I just wipe that off and chip the ice away with my boot every time we stop. A 2x4 works good in the morning but I don't want to be carrying one around all day.
