hey guys. i just bought a new/leftover 05 rs venture, and i've got a question. prior to picking it up, i'm having them fix the suspension adjustments. those white blocks with the pins. the pins themselves were both bent, and i could pull them right out. question is, i don't imagine you're supposed to be able to pull them out right? are they a spring loaded type deal where you pull it, and then it reseats itself into the different position? also, if there's anything else i should ask or have done before i take delivery, please chime in. i'm an atv junky but i'm new to sleds, so please forgive any wrong terminology... thanks fellas!

I bought my Venture last year, hope this helps.
The pull pin I think you are referring to is for the 1UP-2UP coarse white adjustment block. (The pins look like a '?')
If so, yes this is supposed to spring straight back into one of two holes depending on your setting. It should not be bent.
ALSO:
Before you take the machine,
-Be sure the dealer tests your T.O.R.S. setting and replaces the CDI box under warranty.
-Be sure that they install the clutch rattle reduction kit. Also under warranty.
OPTIONAL:
-Buy an spare '?' pin assembly and keep it with you when you ride as these sometimes fall out.
-You may want to install an ovesize (+5mm dia.) 6 wheel kit before you ride as this will save your hyfax. Mine got cooked after only 1000 miles and my track was adjusted by my dealer.
-Install 6" Woody's Dooly carbide runners as the stock ones are pathetic and sad.

thanks man. What's TORS? the clutch rattle reduction kit and CDI... are all 3 covered under warranty? are they recalls or something??? and yes, the 1up, 2up adjustment is what i was referring to.

TORS is the electronic device that stops the sled if the throttle freezes open. It is a recall/warranty issue and is fixed by your dealer replacing the CDI (ignition) box. Clutch rattle is annoying at idle and is fixed with an o-ring kit also done by dealer under warr.
The dealer should know about these issues if they deny them then get a new dealer. They are well known.

i just called and asked about all 3 of them. the TORS he said was checked and is all set. as far as the other 2 go, he said they know about those issus, but can't do them until i have a problem with them. since it wasn't recall, just a known issue that yamaha covers. but he did say that they will indeed fix or replace them if they do become a problem. under warranty of course.

DT5150, unless you live close to your dealer I'd ask again. Make sure the cdi was replaced not just the cables adjusted and why they won't do the clutch rattle fix is kind of silly...so your suppose to bring it back when, more than likely, you'll miss time on the trail . These are 2 well documented issues and if at all possible I'd get them done right out of the gate.

If you live far from your dealer then push the issue. (start up the machine and say-"why is the clutch rattling?")
If your dealer is close, I suggest riding this season and having them fix the issues when you bring it in for you first free service checkup.

i did ask them to do those, but they refused. until i have an issue, they won't touch it. and yes that dealer is pretty far away. but there's a closer one where i can have the service done when i need it. oh by the way, we picked it up this past saturday... man what a hot lookin sled!!!

I would not have picked it up untill they did the service. I would call the other dealer and have him run your vin number and see if the cdi is recall. all of them have had the clutch recall . Its a simple thing . I am suprised that they didnt do it. any way it just makes the load noise go away. Dt, the dealer is screwed up. Have your other dealer run your ser.# and have him check it out. I think the cdi and jackshaft are RECALLS dealer can’t tell you to come back later where as the clutch rattle is by customer complaint.

do you remember if yours came with a spare belt? mine didn't. also, what might be some good things to carry while taking long rides??

Spare belt for sure..Sparkplugs are ??????????????????/ riders choice on a 4-stroker.
First aid kit.. Verrrry basic.
I carry a space blanket,water proof matches,fire starter sticks,compass,GPS,water,sport bars or jerky,flashlight,spare batteries,state road map,uni-tool,tow strap,toilet paper,"don't laugh"

No sleds come with spare drive belt, you have to purchase it (or deal it when you purchase the sled). Mandatory to have.
For the sparkplugs, the failure is less frequent on a 4 stroke but sometimes happen. Because it will be impossible for you to find one elsewhere than a sled dealer, i strongly recommend you to have a spare set with you.
