Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I am a new owner of a RS venture it is a 2006 with 4000 km on it. I have been a yamaha guy for a long time starting with bikes my old sled was a venture 700 and i sold it with 22000 km never been touched so i am hoping that the new one will be as good. Please let me know if there is anything i should do to the sled or has there been any problems with it that i should look after before riding it
thanks Jim

One easy update that works great if you ride in any powder is to swap the stock skiis for a set of Yamaha Mountain skiis. You need a different (longer) mounting bolt, but ski loops and carbides bolt right on.
My wife has the exact same sled, and the skiis really help it off trail.
Other than a passenger handwarmer quitting, the sled has been flawless.

The best thing I have done with mine, well the only thing, is to install a 2" pivot riser. It put my arms & shoulders in a much more comfortable position for sure making for much better ride.

I'll second the 2" riser, plus I put Hooked extensions on mine and 2" blocks under the rear seat tabs to raise the seat, works great.
Plus I also put an MPI 45" front end on it, and the excel header
I was just on a trip with some Rev's, in the tight twisties and 8-12" stutter bumps they couldn't touch me. When the bumps got to over 18" then I was wishing for more suspension and an even higher seat. May be a good project for the summer. Put some bigger drop brackets to drop the rear suspension down another inch or two, raise the bars another 2" inches and upgrade the rear shocks and I should be good to go.
There's nothing like an 144" skid to bridge the bumps.

thanks everyone for the info and the nice welcome. I took it out for a ride last night and i got questions WOW the track hums like loud and the cluch is making noise also is it because the engine is so quiet i here all this. And yes this 144 rides the bumps like they arnt there lol its great. I need to set the suspention up cause it is tippy big time and dosent turn good unless i am off the throttle.

Jim,
Get an MPI wide front end kit with the 13mm sway bar, it will take away all the tippiness.

Hi Jim,
I see your from Ontario as well. I have found a great way to get stuff from the states great pricing and shipped to your door, they'll import it and sell it to you for less than what it costs to buy it direct. I'll Pm you with the name.
MPI is Mountain Performance Inc.

Since its almost spring..or is it..put some ice scratchers on it..the longer tracks need more snow..best 70 $ you will ever spend

one thing that is good to do is re-grease speedo bearing and jackshaft bearing by pulling the seal or using a grease needle,i'm telling you this cuz we just came back from a 7 day trip and my cousin has the exact same sled as you,he fried the speedo bearing in the haliburton area, what a pain to pull in those hills,do this anually and you wont have bearing seizures
