Just grinded my flap up going in reverse on my Attak. Does anyone know where to get a good flap other than oem. Yamaha already changed the part number to a new design. I don't know if they made it better by sticking it out further to help in reverse. Also how do you get the old rivets out, just drill through them???

Thanks

:die

That new Yamiflap looks good to me. It sticks way back farther away from the track, you would have to back into a bank to back over it.

It's inexpensive as well around $20 I was told.

Pop rivet removal is easy, just drill out with the same size drill as the rivet, probably 3/16 for that one. Putting the new ones in isn't too bad, but being stainless they take some effort to compress.

I'd be replacing mine except I did it just before the new ones came out.

I trimmed my snowflaps and the problem was solved. The oem flaps have an indented line 3 " up .

I have experienced the same problem with my snow flap and now it's all chewed up by studs. I hope new style flaps provide more stiffness resisting getting sucked in..

The '07 flap look far better than the '06 anyway. I'll give you my '06 flap if you really want it!!!!!!

They say that u shouldn't trim the snow flap as it is a part of cooling and slider lubricating system. The snow hits the flap and bounces back onto the track, some of the snow falls through the holes for slider lube and off the track to the front cooler instead of the snow going out the back.

I trimmed on the line as well and it works fine with no over heating issues. I was chewing it up in reverse. Works fine now with no rubbing. ;)!

The snow flap is just to long. The trimed version is just right. My sliders lasted 3200 miles and I have no overheating problem. Actually my dealer recommended it and I think he is right

Here is the 07 flap on my 06 ER

I ground up the original flap and a new '07 flap on my '06 Attak backing off the trailer....that seems to be the only time it's a problem.

Cutting the bottom off the flap works, but causes a ton of snow to get thrown out the back. So unless you don't have people riding behind you, the best solution is to bolt on a piece of nylon strapping to flap around the bumper to secure the flap. I did it on mine finally, and it's very cheap to do and looks nice.

i was having the same problem last year with my 06 apex this year i cut it and have no problems backing up no matter where i'm at. the 07's have the problem as well if your in any kind of powder and back up the flimsy aluminum bracket bends very easy, almost too easy! as far as throwing a little snow it keeps people from riding my butt and at a good stopping distance.

What did you do just drill a hole in the flap and rivet the nylon to it? Any pics?
I think I'm going to cut mine and do the nylon strap so if it does get caught it isn't damaging the metal support, it'll just pull on the bumper a little.
