2007 Phazer FX
Just found this forum while looking for some information on my '07 Phazer FX and I gotta say :rocks:

Tons of great information! I'm new to Yami's and 4 strokes (previous sled was a '97 ZR580) and I just bought my sled used this offseason, so this site has been a wealth of information for someone like me. I've put about 500 miles on the sled and am pretty used to it now. Threads like the one on cornering are perfect for someone like me.

Anyway, I've read as much as I could here about the overheating issue on the 07 Phazer since I ran into this issue on my first long run. I'm pretty convinced that I need the radiator fan since the warning light would come on when I would stop after riding hard and would go away after I get up to speeds where the air flow is good. I have the tunnel closed off, so I don't think I'm having an ice problem on the exchanger (didn't know to even look when it was happening, hadn't found this site yet!). I talked to the local dealer and he said it wasn't a recall/service bulletin issue, so I'd have to pay to have it done. Let's just say that the total was more than I was willing to pay, so I figured I'd just buy a fan and install it myself (sounds like the FX is pre-wire, so it should be simple, right?).

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to look to purchase the fan (or really a good site for any parts for the Phazer)? If I just bought the fan from that dealer it would be over $200. That sure seems like a pretty inflated price. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Port Yamaha. They are one of main sponsors here.I think I made a post with pics when I put mine on but if not and you need pics let me know.

You could also see if some one is parting out a Phazerand see if they have one. Or E-Bay. Or port like cannondale said.

just picked my 07 fx from dealer today, they installed the fan
on mine at no cost to me.
the fx is wired for the fan so its plug in and go.

Thanks for all the replies. I've looked around and so far Port Yamaha has the best price. I did look at eBay and found lot's of fans, just none for the Phazer.

The more I read around here the more it seems like everyone has been getting their fans for free, so I'm a little ticked at the response I got from the dealer. I bought my sled used, so maybe that's why the dealer is kind of blowing me off. There is another dealer in my area, so maybe I'll give them a call and see.

Cannondale27, I looked for your pics and saw some of your wiring. Is that what you were talking about? I need to take a closer look at the pics after I open mine up, but I was assuming it would be pretty straightforward.

i would try the other dealer an if that doesnt work try yamaha they have been great with costomer service for most if the dealer does help well then you have youreself a new dealer.

The guys getting free fans got them with dealer "Goodwill" and not warranty. (I elected to pay for my fan and use my "Goodwill" for something else.) :drink:

Cannondale27 has a base Phazer which was not prewired to accept a fan. Your FX is prewired which will make installation a breeze. Bolt it on, plug it in and you're good to go. ;)!

So a base phazer 08 or 09 could accept the fan?

very odd to me how yamaha decided to wire the FX to take the fan and didn't put it on the sled...

I had to complain and they put it in. I have found that the local dealer won't do anything until it breaks or you complain. I passed on YES so I have been logging alot of complaints to get all the bugs worked out.
