Hi there... I picked up an 06 Nytro recently. Mostly because I thought it was awesome looking and a good compliment to my RX1, which is getting a few miles on it now...... and it was a great deal. This Nytro currently has about 2500 miles (3900 km) on it.... What my question(s) is: Was there any quirks or issues with these sleds that I should be paying attention too or having looked at? As far as I can tell it has always been well maintained, one owner, and from what he told me he had 2 recalls for the handwarmers and other than that no issues... but he wanted to sell it to, so who knows.... I like to do longer trips, and like to keep my sleds running (and looking) like new. Please let me know if there is anything that I should be proactively doing..... and please don't tell me what I should do to make it go faster, pull wheelies, etc..... I just want a good, reliable trail sled. I have my RX1 as a toy now.... (so turbo here I come!!!).... but really I just want the sled to run and perform as a low mileage Yammi should..... thanks in advance, AD

Quick reply:
Check/replace exhaust donuts
Check clutch weights and thorough clutch clean
Did the previous owner have the cam chain tensioner changed?
Hows the battery? original?
Pull carbs, clean, reinstall and resynch
Run doolies or Duece Bars to eliminate darting

i'm a rookie but first things i would be concerned about (two mentioned) would be cam chain tensioner, oil tank and exhaust gaskets. if the tensioner hasn't been replaced do so and hit the exhaust gaskets while you're in there. i have to look at my brothers sled to figure out what modifications we're going to do to keep the oil tank from cracking. the nytro tank may be different than the vector but i think they've had them crack as well. seasons too short to be dealing with issues that can be avoided.

Replace front end bushings, check for cracks in track suspension.

Whats with the cam chain tensioners?? Were they recalled? What is/was the problem? Please fill me in or direct me to a forum where it is dealt with... thanks.
