Just picked up a '07 for the fiance since I 've always wanted a 4stroke and this was the easiest way. She loves the riding position and the look of it, so just gotta work out a few details and hopefully its good to go!
Some problems I've noticed are;
1. bottoms out easily on small whoops(shock worn?)
2. ski pressure is heavy and darts easily
3. very noticable drivetrain whine over 40 mph
4. jerky low speed operation(possibly old gas/sludge build up)
5. reverse light not engaging most of the time(have searched this and broken wire under seat may be problem?)

Sled has only 3000 km(1800 miles) so I'm a little disappointed at the issues but hey, it is used
If any one has comments regarding fixes, feel free to chime in. Cheers.

Hi and welcome to TY.

1.Have you adjusted the spring to a harder position? depending on the weight of the rider, it may need to be adjusted to a higher position. I assume you have a GT? If so, it does have a slightly softer spring than the FX. Shock could be worn but on the GT, it's not rebuildable.

2. Some things can be done to help with darting. Could adjust the strap in the skid higher to lessen ski pressure. You could adjust toe-out on the skis a bit more out which some report helps. Of course you could also add some dual carbides (Snow Studs' Double Downs are pretty good).

3. It does whine a lot on deceleration and is normal. If just moving or accelerating, not sure what that could be.

4. Go to Yamaha and get e bottle of Ring Free fuel additive. Good stuff, should clean out just about anything. Use as directed.

5. Reverse wiring doesn't go under the seat at all. Probably the usual problem. If it engages by lifting the rear end and/or moving the sled back and forth, then it's the classic reverse problem. There is an updated belt and clutch shim available.

There were some recalls and updates available for this first year sled so you should verify they were done. And check in here too with any questions. Lots of helpful people here.

I had put the stud boy duece bar on my stock skis and they fixed the darting issue. My brother has singles on his stock ski and he darts more frequently.

I have the reverse issue as well and I just lean back or fourth pulling the handle bars and it clicks in with no issues.

Thanks for the replys! I will adust the strap to see if that helps the ski pressure as girlfriend thot it a bit heavy. And I put seafoam in the tank but it didn't do anything, but sled is going into yammy dealer tomorrow for updates so I'll see what they say. Acceleration whine is annoying though.

For the bottoming out, check your suspension. We're just putting the '07 back together after the left rail broke at the H-arm mounting point and the right bolt was gone. The front shock was just not working and track was getting loose and ratcheting. A real mess. Thankfully I had spare parts from a part out.

Would you happen to be able to take a picture of this?

I don't quite understand what your sayin.

All I have is the broken rail. The mounting point simply broke off. In this case, what I think happened is that the right bolt fell off and allowed the left mounting point to bend and break off, which then allowed the shaft to slide right out of the H-arm.

Just check that all bolts are tight and that all suspension pieces are intact. Early versions of the H-arm had a tendency of also fracturing before being reinforced. Also the skid's front shock's lower mounting pivot had a design defect and would also fracture when the inner shaft would bend and allow the mount's shaft to break. Very evident if you see the inner wheels bent in towards each other.
