Just finishing up my Apex Turbo header. After many hours of research talking to some of the best Stainless header people in the business and many hours of the pro's and con's of design, trying to fit it in a confined space, this is what I feel a turbo header should be. Started out with price being least important and life expectancey and performance being most important this is how it goes.
Started out with a Burn's Stainless 25 deg. double slip merge collector fitted with a T25 style turbo flange made with 321 high temp high strength stainless. Didn't stop there used 321 stainless 1 1/2 in. 16 ga. (065 wall) mandrel bent tubing throughout. All tubes are equal length also.
This is not a trail header as you can see it would cut into the fuel capacity too much, thats not to say you couldn't use it in trail applications but you'd probably have to tow a fuel cart. My application is a Lake Drag Race sled. Like I said before, This is not a cheap way to go, but I feel performance and durability will be grately enhanced. Take a look at the pictures. :flag:

That might be a good idea you have there with the merge collector. It should allow enough movement in the unit to help keep everything from cracking. I would think that in drag racing you must have lots of heat cycles to deal with

Wicked looking header man. but i agree with Need for Speed 2 looks just like Teds header

heres a apex header that requires less chopping

I would say that the reason that Twin Turbos race header looks like Ted's is that they both researched it and did it right the first time. Two big thumbs up for both of them ;)! ;)! . If we ever run into any cracking issues I will be going with two double slip fit 2 into 1 merges to match up to our split scroll flange. We have ran it for a year now with no cracking (knock on wood) but the double slip fit is the way to go.
