I've started shopping around for carbides for my new sled and noticed that Woody's have developed a new and "improved" design of their Dooly runners. These new "Slim Jim Doolys" are apparently over 30% lighter and more aggressive than the original version. They certainly look less bulky. These might make their way onto my new sled. With less mass, they should be cheaper as well, shouldn't they?

The dooly works great on my Apex. I went though a set mid season last year...Had a set of single runner Woody's at home...so I put them on and went for a ride. Darted like mad!! Stopped at a shop on the trail and bought a new set of doolys and put them on at the shop. Rode the same trails back home and WHAT A DIFFERENCE. No darting and great handle. When I added them the first time I put less weigh transfer in the skid and it turns nice with little push. If the new one help with bite in the corners they will be perfect

I am interested in these runners as well but as they def appear to be better than the original doolys they still looklike they would drag more than the deuce bars but probaly have better anti-darting properties. hmmm???

Go figure, less steel used in the process, therefore more expensive! Must have been all that R&D.:dunno: I'm still leaning towards the Deuce bars by Studboy.

If you're the least aggressive rider go DEUCE, WOODY'S are great for touring, the moment you start pushing your sled in corners they don't track very well, I shimed my stock skis and installed DEUCE and have zero darting and handle very well in corners compared to my WOODY'S

if you want that dual carbide 4on the floor feel you get with these carbides without the push, visit your local cat dealer. pick up a set of the long version of the offset duallies that come on cats. you will need to move two studs on the newer plastic ski. on the older ski with metal backer you can just drill two new holes. they work great and dont push like duallies, cheaper too.

Thanks for the offer kinger, but I just made a deal for some used pilots. I've seen how well they worked on my buddy's sled and just had to try them.

I used Woody's Dooly bars last year (zero darting but Way WAY Too Much Drag) almost impossible to load on a trailer and my gas milage even dropped.
I will let you know how the new set of Stud Boy Deuce bars work out.

Had a look at the new Woody's Dual carbides at the Toronto show. They look much more aggressive than the old style. The runners are narrower than the round bar used previously and they look like they would penetrate deeper. I would anticipate that they would not push like the old ones. The leading edge of hardweld tapers down toward the carbide at a more gradual angle so it should not catch when loading on a trailer or crossing railroad tracks. All in all, I think the Slim Jim's would be far superior than Dooly's.

Doolys

I was looking for some of the new style (Slim Jims) at Novi but wasn't having much luck when I stumbled on to 6" Deuce Bars for $37.95. I couldn't pass on that. I had 4 seasons on the original Woodys and am hoping I like these better. Is Stud Boy coming out with something new in response to Woodys new bars as these sounded pretty cheap, but I'm not complaining?

I just picked up a set of "Slim Jims" yesterday. I also plan to shim the skis. I am not running studs, so I went with 4 inch. Still have to wait a few more days for the trails to open -- and we need more snow too.
