Hi everybody,

I'm new to the forum and new to Yamaha and 4 stroke sleds (just bought a new Apex Mountain). So I figured I would introduce myself because I'll probably have a few questions for you guys.

My name is Randy and I live in Slave Lake, Alberta, Canada. I usually ride in the Mcbride, Valemount, Blue River and Revelstoke areas. I'm a horsepower freak, my last sled was a Summit 800 with a turbo system I designed myself using a turbo off of a Dodge truck. Rode that sled for 3 years and decided it was time for something that required less tuning and was more reliable. So I bought an Apex with the intention of eventually turboing or supercharging it, gonna ride it stock for a while first while I decide which system to get. Right now I am leaning towards the MCXpress turbo, but I want to wait and see how they perform first.

So here are a couple questions to get started.

1)What is a good starting point for setting the transfer rods on the rear suspension for mountain/deep powder riding. I would imagine a person would want a lot of weight transfer, but I also would imagine it is a matter of personal preference to some degree, so what is working for you?

2)I would like to install an O2 sensor in preparation for adding a turbo or supercharger to establish a baseline of what is a normal O2 sensor reading for this engine without a turbo or S/C. So for those of you running O2 sensors, where on the exhaust system are they installed?

Thanks
Randy

I'm not 100% sure on this but wouldn't an Apex already have an 02 sensor on it since it has fuel injection ? Ken.

The Apex is an open EFI system so no O2 sensor.

Also, if I remember correctly, the 05 RX-1 had too much transfer, so I would probably keep it where it is and go from there. Just my $.02.

Randy, you should run the transfer rods where they are for now, it will probably transfer plenty where it is. The only adjuster you may need to adjust is the 3 position one, it is on the medium setting. If you find it bottoms, the easiest way i have found to adjust it is to lay the sled on its side in the snow, roll the torsion spring keeper forward by hand and lift of the spring then turn it. Put everything back and do the same on the other side. No tools req'd. I am about 230 without gear and on my Vector I could bottom it out until I went to the stiffer setting but haven't had a chance to try this new 162 skid yet.

Randy with the tipped up rails on the apex, you have plenty of weight transfer. I ride with a m8 cat and he wishes he had tipped up rails. The front end of the apex comes out of the snow instantly. You will be totally impressed with your yammie. It will make your previous brand of snowmobile look like a piece of crap. I tell no lie.
