Hello everyone!! I'm a long time die hard Yamaha owner/rider. I have just found this website and I'm very impressed, I look forward to countless hours on here. My best friend snow-checked a 07 RTX but received one through Yamaha's race program (GRASS DRAG). I was lucky enough to take his snow-checked sled and I can't wait. His brother had a 06 RTX and I was blown away when I rode it last winter. I have owned approx. 14 Yamaha sleds since the early 80's and did not think I could ever part with my 01 SRX, it is a rocket ship that felt like a corvette to me. When the RX-1 came out I wasn't ready, the Vector was a little to slow for me but the 06 RTX was it. I could not believe a snowmobile could be this awesome!! My plan was to pick up a non current 06 RTX but when the 07 RTX deal came my way I had to pull the trigger. I stopped at the local Yamaha dealer to see one but they said they did not order one because they said the new suspension was sub par to the 06 RTX, he claimed the Nytro last year was not a good seller and that he hated the 07 RTX when he rode it in Minocqua. Needless to say I was surprised at this information. This is not the dealer I'm purchasing my sled through, I'm purchasing from the same dealer as I have always supported. Could anybody with a 06 Nytro or knowledge of the 07 RTX rear skid please confirm the fact that I think I made a great choice. My friend who is racing in the Grass Drags this year says the 07 RTX is a Rocket, people crowd around his sled in awe. Thanks.

I don't know what that dealer was smokin when he said that, The 06 RTX is basically Yamaha's high HP ditch banger, but with the 06 skid many guys were bottoming out, while pounding on there 06's, So the theory is that the 06 Nytro skid was made & can take a beating in all conditions, so why not throw it in the 07 RTX, sounds like Yamaha listen to the riders on that one, and finally put the right skid under the right sled, I rode the 07 lineup and thought they were ALL great, I'll keep my 06 RTX & Nytro for awhile, but you will enjoy the 07

My buddy chad test rode a 06 NYTRO.. which has the same rear suspension as the 07 RTX...

He said it was unbelievable... soo good he bought a Nytro..

07 rtx

The 07 rtx is unreal you can poubnd it as hard as you want 3-4ft moguls and it ask for more it by the far the best snowmobile I ever rode. You can preload the suspension before bumps or the moguls.

One man's garbage is another man's treasure......simply put, that's one man's opinion on the sled....he didn't like it don't mean everyone's gonna hate it.You said you thought the /06 was awesome.........If your somewhat of an aggresive rider, your probably gonna love the /07......I know i seen one over the weekend and thought it looked awesome! ;)!

Thanks everyone! Pro116 what exactly do you mean by preload suspension before bumps and moguls?

Alot of peaople were complaing of the bottoming but then adjusting the suspension with the factory pring or upgrading to the fatboy spring if the adjusting did not help. With the mono you can still pound the sled. You can still preload it for jumps and what nots but yes the ProActive will be better for this if thats ALL you ride. most people arent riding moguls and jumps for a full day just here and there. I still like the mono, I will also need to tweak it for some occasional bottoming i experienced. I would upgrade to the ProActive if i found a good deal on it and it would be a direct swap.

Yes I do love AIR and Moguls--not all the time, as we all know, by three pm on any Saturday you experience moguls, whether you want to or not!!

How is it on fresh groomed trails? I assume it is awesome.

I find the Pro-Active to be good in a variety of conditions. Suspensions these days are made to handle MOST conditions well, so as not to alienate a broad spectrum of riders. Having said this, the Pro-Active is capable of taking a beating, and as such may give up some "creature comforts". I would not, however, deem it to be harsh on groomed trails (which I ride alot) and it sure is nice to know that it can handle the rough stuff when it's time to play!

This is the key sentence, they didn't order any.
From what I have researched it doesn't ride as plush as the mono. It is designed to be a true mogul buster that can be set to ride good. Simply not as plush but more durable.

When Yamaha built the RTX I was perplexed when it was released with the MONO shock skid and the same rear shock as an APEX ER. They called the sled there ditch banger. The mono shocks can take big bumps but it's not a Snow cross skid by an means.

That's why it's nice to have options. The 07 RTX is perfect for a guy that likes to run 50 to 80 through massive holes. Like the ones you'd find on the side of a road that's never groomed but heavily used. If your a guy that like some rough stuff but you'd rather flew down a grommed trail then you get an ER OR a GT

Cobolt, if you decide you want the monoshock skid, I have a friend who would would like to swap his brand new mono-skid for an 07 RTX skid.

Thanks for the offer but I intend on enjoying the new suspension! I pick up my sled on the 23rd of September!!

My best friend took first in both the 500 and 600 class at Nelson's Sno Motion last weekend! He has the 07 RTX dialed!!!

To each his own I guess. Based on my ride on an 06 nitro, Im very glad I bought the 06 RTX rather than waitiing a year.
