Newbie Here - Nytro Question

Well, 1st post of the forum... I'm hoping you guys can help me with a Nytro question: I currently have a 2008 Rev XP 800x and am now interested in jumping into a 4 stroke. My question: there are some great deals on 2008 Nytro's, but I understand from this forum there are also some issues with the '08's. Are the '09's that much better? Any thoughts would be appreciated. My second question: I tend to prefer 121" sleds, and with the Nytro - where do you put 'stuff'? On the Rev there was a platform for extra fuel or a tunnel bag - even on a 121" sled... so where do you guys put your extras?

The bushings were a warranty issue with the 08's. I believe the people that still have 08's now love them after they adjusted ski's etc. I don't think the 09's are that much better but you could get one for $8500 in the US. You need to update your profile to show where your from?
I went 4 stroke 3 years ago and this is my 4'th winter on one. I could never go back. I can't drive behind 2 strokes as I can't stand the fumes. So I'm glad 4 stroke Yamaha's don't hold up traffic!
Get a windshield bag. When I'm out with 1000's they get worried about fuel before I do with my stock tank.

I would without a doubt go with an 09 just because of the subframe.

As far as storage, I bought the Yamaha fuel caddy and am going to have fuel in one side and stuff on the other.

You won't be disappointed with an 09.

I came off a rev 6 and bought an 09 fx shortie and love once you get the suspension set the way you like it's an awsome bump sled and handles the groomed trails great.As far as storage their is alot of different bags available.

I have an 08 no issues hear with a subframe, I have 1000km on her

3500 miles, no major issues
- lower ball joints replaced = warranty
- lot's of minor changes to get it to where I want it .... skis, carbides, all shocks revalved, studs, handwarmers, clutching, marginal snow wheels
- still dealing with ice buildup in tunnel .... heated garage works but not available when on trips
- the motor makes up for all the minor issues
- storage = belt clip on clutch guard, storage in nose bag, windsheild bag, tank bag
- extra fuel = yamaha fuel caddies for longer rides

thanks for all of the input and information... seems to be a wide variety of opinion on the '08 Nytros...

One other question: what is the tunnel ice build up issue? I have heard this now from several Nytro owners... I guess I'm puzzled as to why this would be an issue... don't Nytro's have heat exchangers underneath the tunnel like other sleds?

The muffler melts the snow, & then the water hits anywhere cold & freezes. It seems to build up the worst between the muffler & where the snowflap mounts.

No, there is no tunnel mounted exchangers. One large one in front of the track & then there is a traditional radiator under the "hood" behind the headlight.

08 rtx. 1600miles. zero issues. not sure what all the talk about the sub frame is. I've smoked a couple nice rocks, rolled it once, even cracked a ski and all is still good.

Nah, theres no tunnel ice! Seriously, if there was a rear heat exchanger kit for this sled, I'd be hard pressed not to buy it.

BTW, this was after doing 230 miles or so that day, no ice before that. Built up to the size of a cinderblock on one ride and dropped out infront of another sled while I was doing 40! Major safety issue, especially when you don't have a garage to put it in every night.

Looking at adding a bigger snow flap and securing it to the frame farther down, so it doesn't continuously flex out. People behind you get PELTED. Need it to hang down farther and be a touch wider.
