Looking At Buying A Yamaha Nytro

$8,500 is too high IMO, but I'm also in the Alaska market. Hardly anyone wants a 4-stroke up here.

From the videos I've watched of lower 48 riding, mid-west riding, hyfax wear is due to lack of snow, not a bad design. The XTX uses the same rear skid as the Venture, there is nothing inherently wrong with the hyfax set up.

Well I ended up buying the 09 xtx, it was in mint condition, I checked the subframe it looked straight, the bogey wheels were all good, the track was good, he had it studded but they weren't dead center so they didn't seem to hit the top of the shock very much The only concerns I had were when I would push down on the rear on the sled it would rebound a bit but I would have to lift it like about 4" to get it back up all the way, so I don't think thats normal but the sled only has 1600km on it and there was no oil leakage out of the shock, I don't think a shock could be bad that fast. I talked to the yamaha dealership and they said that was normal and once you ride it a bit it will return to normal, I have no clue if this is true. And another thing was the handle bars have that black yamaha center piece thing that comes down to a V on top of the gas tank and it has actually wore a groove into the plastic, Im not sure if he has lowered the steering or what. But anyway the sliders are not bad but what kind of sliders would you guys recommend or would the oem ones be the best. Im also looking into ice scratchers, which do you guys run? Thanks

Yamabrute,
Nothing significantly different enough from an '09 to the new ones to make me want to buy a later model.

Yamaha has a new dupont slide that is supposed to be out by november that wears for 8000 miles for 120.00 I think. That is what I am going to try on my 2011 but mine are not suppose to wear as quick because of the placement of the wheels on skid have been moved down. The only true fix is to get oversized wheels. I was concerned with rail twisting with larger wheels but people say its not a problem others say it is.

I am thinking of making the move to an xtx rom an 02 Viper. Is there much difference between an 09, 10, 11 or 12? There is a new 09 at my local yammie shop.
The changes on the 2011 that I am aware of are wheels mounted lower on rails for less hyfax wear, springs are stiffer and mounted in different location, someone said shocks wear valved different not sure. The solenoids are sealed better. Alot of the upgrades you can do yourself as time and money permit. If you check the mirofinche the difference between the 09 and 11 is actually quite a bit. Weather its updated bolts or what not. And alot of the bolts ect. were updated on 09 wether it was needed or just because part #'s changed. I have heard some of the early 09 xtx had the non reinforced subframes left over from 08.
