Am posting this for entertainment purposes. Heard from a friend, who's a die hard Polaris fan, that he heard (I know that's why it's called a rumor) from someone with connections in the industry that Yamaha is getting out of the snowmobile market after 2010. Apparently, they were on some ride the other day (which included ex/retired racers and others in the industry) where he was told this. He claimed Yamaha isn't getting enough of a marketshare. I kind of just nodded and said really? :drink: I did have to throw in the comment, though, that that explains why the only good sled they came out with for 2010 was the upgraded Vector.
He also couldn't say enough about the new Poo "Rush." Says it's day and night different between his 600. As always cheap entertainment from the other brand loyalists. It's always fun to hear what all of the rumors are out there.

You should hve said Huh the yamaha guys told me they were buying polaris this summer. LOL Bet hat would have shut him up. Maxdlx

Anything is possible. The plug was almost pulled after a very poor sales year for the 04's.

I heard Yamaha was buying GM, Ford, BRP, Kawasaki, Honda, Harley-Davidson, Toyota, Polaris, Arctic Cat, and BMW...but I heard it from a guy who heard it from his deaf sister.

That's because the RX1 was not a good sled... 2. It was over shadowed by the REV. All OEM's lost to the REV. Yamaha has bounced back big time since then. To me that Rush is gimick... It still not like a true moto-x suspension.. I don't see it being much better than the mono...

Rush

Another funny tidbit said was that the Rush has no welds. Supposedly is all glued together. Glue doesn't melt until a significantly high temp (I forget the exact degee #.) You've got to be kidding me!

Does your friend sniff a lot of glue?

The only brand I see having financial issues after this year is Cat.

That's hilarious!! I get a charge out of these kind on guys! I think Yamaha did not too bad at all this year, they worked with what they had and made it better, in some cases a lot! That's what the rest of the industry should do instead of trying to release something groundbreaking and new every year and it ends up being a pile of crap because of not enough R&D. I can understand some of the Apex guys wanted and upgrade and maybe so as it's been a few years now but look at how durable those sleds are and it is still the sled that all the other manu's are STILL benchmarking their big bores against! Yamaha was ahead of the game with that ride. In 08 Yammi released a totally new and redesigned sled with the FX Nytro and this year guys are bi%#&*ng about nothing new. I mean come on, let's keep what we've got for a little bit instead of crying for something new every single year. The new fuellie Vector is gonna be one absolutely superb trail cruising package! As far as the Rush goes, we'll see what that holds. Neat concept I guess but I don't really see that becoming a platform wide chassis for Poo. They if anyone need a bit of a boost with some of their debacles they've had the past few years.

I don't think Yammi is going out of the snowmobile business anytime soon, they make great sleds that sell well. I think the Rush is butt ugly, and the only people who will buy it are the trail crashers. The current Apex is fine for years to come, I really don't know what they could do to improve this sled. Sure, every sled has it's glitches, but overall the Apex is the nicest sled on the snow, and is plenty powerful, any more would be dangerous in a consumer sled. The new feul injected 3 cyl should make the Vector really perk up as well. Wig

Certainly not the first time, nor is it likely to be the last time, we'll hear this rumor, I suspect. Yamaha has always been at a disadvantage in that its pricing is hostage to the state of the yen against the US and Canadian dollar. Things are much worse now, of course.

I suppose it's possible the snowmobile product line could fold these days -- a lot of companies worldwide are shedding unprofitable product lines, but Yamaha has never really been out to corner the market on snowmobiles. They have always been satisfied to just stay in the game. Even so, bad economy on top of a few bad snow years could certainly drop sales enough to push them over the edge.

a pal took one on demo......said the ride is amazing, and it is in fact held together with glue. He also mentioned it could either carry the skis or carve by a simple turn of a dial. I thought my Nytro was ugly, that this.....hit every branch.

If i knew they were getting out of snowmobiles,i get to my local dealer for the last yamaha sled made.(were in strange times, anything possible).

The rx1 are a great machine once you dial it in and I can run or beat most sleds out there no problem. I have almost 5000 miles on my sled and I still have not even looked at the bearings and she uses no oil.

I went on the polaris site and watched the video of the rush and the rear suspension..and it took me about 5 seconds to definatly see 2 different places where there are welds..just from the crappy camera angle.

Re: Rush

The Lotus Elise,Exige and 2-Eleven chassis is aluminum glued together. You can use thinner aluminum and save weight without sacrificing strength.
