It's an 05 rx1, I just went for a night ride the other night and noticed my break light isn't coming on. Took the light out checked the bulbs and they're fine. I also checked the little mini fuse box on the right side of the sled..I don't know if it has anything to do with the brake but all of them were good. I'm guessing it could be a problem with the switch? Anybody know where the switch is or what else could be the problem?

Check the connector thats under the seat. The pig-tail in on the right hand side, right where the seat aligns with the gas tank...and check the wires for rub thru.

the connector under the back end of the seat is good. the running light come on. Also i disconnected the connector running to the brake switch on the handlebars and crossed them to each other with a wire thinking it should light the brake lights..and still nothing. Any specific area i should be looking for rub thru?

I just took a test light and crossed the two connecter ends on the handlebars coming from the battery. The test light lit..when i ground the test light and then test each end one end lights it and the other doesn't. I'm not an electrical guy at all..is this how it should be?

put your test light on the connector end under the seat, pull your brake lever see if you have light, If you do, then you know its good til that point.
Then take your brake light apart, check bulbs?

I had the brake light apart and the bulbs look good..both filaments in both bulbs are good. I put it all back together for now. This latest warm up really put a dampening on the mood. Hopefully we get some more riding yet this winter here.

Had my brake light not work for me last year. Checked the bulb, connector and switch. It was not either of them. It seemed like the running light was working but the brake light not. When I checked the bulb, I found out the brake light element was actually on as the running light. Seemed kind of odd so I started looking at the wires from the lever switch that pass under the handlebar pad. Found a couple of nicked wires and one of them turned out to be broken. connected the broken wire and everything worked fine. I am thinking there must be a failsafe for power to the tail light so that when wires break there will be at lease a rear tail light. Look for a broken or cut wire somewhere under the handlebar pad. Could not understand how mine got cut; but it did. Once I connected the wires everything was fine. Hope this helps. lol.

Hey guys, thanks for all of your help. I put this off until this year, traced the wire and took the seat off only to find one wire completely seperated under the seat. Looks like the previous owner tried to half #*$&@ fix it and it came apart. its back together and works. Now time to do an Apex seat mod to the 03!
