I'm changing the bearings on the jackshaft and the nut was loose on the shaft chaincase side. Is there a torque spec on it? 2nd time in two yrs this has happened. Seems to me a lock nut with a cotter pin should have been used here. Maybe some locktite on it.

Happens a lot and I have asked in other threads if anyone uses Loctite but no replies yet. I think next time I will do that, it's a poor design that is hard to access and needs special tools.

Instead of loctite could also change the nut to the nylon locking type. Those work very well.

65 ft. lbs. They have a tool for this that really helps. One of the vendors here sells it.
