My buddy has an 08 Nytro and is experiencing some backfiring issues. The machine makes a slight backfire when u pin the throttle and also when you slack off on the throttle. I say it is a plug issue, just wondering if any of you guys experienced this and if you did find the cause. The machine pulls like a train and other than the backfiring runs like a charm...there are no codes showing up.as well...any help would be appreciated.

Does he have any exhaust or intake mods, ie a can or K&N's? If so it's normal. IMO

Mine backfires when coasting, maybe once or twice each time. Is that doughnuts?

Really? I have both, my sled never backfires.
(Well actually it did once or twice when I rode it with a large hole in the collector. So it's parked till I get a new one.)

My nytro backfires lots on a steep decent. Even going up the Bowl in The North Arm hills she sounds like she is popping and missing. Haven't checked donuts or plugs lateley. I have Excell full exhaust and PCV. I hate the popping.
When I got down from a high climb a Bombardier buddy said you need to change your plugs. I blamed it on the exhaust. Annoying big time. Love and hate relationship with the Nytro.

9 times out of 10, a de-cell backfire is an exhaust leak of some sort, whether it's donuts or a cracked exhaust flex/header pipe.

Will it hurt anything if I dont tend to it sooner rather than later? Sledding season days are numbered and I would rather wait.

I would imagine it will burn out your exhaust sooner, as there is a fireball escaping during the event.. Possibly even a shock wave? Which over time cant be good on things.

Run it!! Mine backfires every once in a while, and it pops all the time on the throttle. It's normal for the popping, and the popping sound gets amplified when you have an exhaust on your sled. I heard the popping comes from an emissions issue. The backfiring on deceleration is from bad donuts, or cracked head pipe, or cracked header pipe.
