Nytro Bent Front End this one has hit nothing WITH PICTURES

Hope you don't have to dig it out of the snow for an hour or so upside down then, and try to ride it home!
Im aware of that guys, just remindng everyone before you flip your sled on its side and stare at it for 2 days trying to understand this problem that the "manual" that so often gets quoted on here says not to do it. Dont let my little comment side track your progress on this, just a helpful FYI heads up.

Funny... I was condemned to the fires of hell about a week ago for trying to warn people that this kind of stuff was going to be a problem. I've counted just about a new thread every two or three days on this subject. 'Nuff said.

Everybody has been posting pictures of spindles that arent aligned, and shocks that arean't centered, but no one has posted any pictures of what is actually bent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is it the A-arm, the sub frame, the a-arm mounts, the?????
That is why I said to roll the sled on its side, snap a picture, and post it. I din't tell anybody to let it sit on it's side for the weekend, just long enough for the flash to quit!!!
Mine's not bent so I can't get an idea of what the problem is, here. I have the capability of fabricating larger quantities of parts, if it's an additional brace that needs to be added to the subframe, or even a few different pieces to beef up the front end, but I need to see what's actua;;y bending.
The other HUGE point I need to make is that you guys need to be contacting your dealers!!!!! This has been hashed over and over that nothing will get done from Yamaha if the dealers don't register a complaint with Yamaha!!!!!!!!
Sure we can come up with an aftermarket part if the dealers repair them back to stock, but unless the dealers and Yamaha have the proper complaints, we're just going to keep seeing posts that aren't going to help!!!

Nate's post below yours is an example of a Helpfull post. Looking into your crystal ball and Warning eveyone the sky is falling is not. I would hazard a guess that it's your 'tone' of posting that gets you 'condemned to the fires of hell' more than it's the rest of us. Less emotion and more information goes a long way.

Thanks, Crewchief.
It really gets fustrating to keep reading posts that are just bitching about their problems. It has been posted here tons of times, guys, about how the system works for getting these major issues resolved on a manufacturers level. This site is an incredible place to learn how to tune your sleds, learn about new products, and meet new people, but those of us who are here on a daily basis get tired of seeing people using this forum for a scratching post!
There are tons of very resorceful people here who will bend over backwards to hep anybody out there, but we can't work miracles. I was recently informed that there are approximately 20 new activations everyday on TY, and many of them come to Yamaha from other brands. We all need to do our part to keep our moderators from going insane trying to police the bashing and bitching.
Sorry if this upsets anyone, but I just had to vent.
I love this site when it's people helping people, but don't just keep starting thread after thread to complain!

has anyone thought the shocks not centered in the arms maybe a caster issue that yamaha built into the front unit? most of the nytros i have seen have some sort of issue in the show room new or used units with the right side. the shock on the right side seems to be further back in the A arms. is this a built in caster spec to make the sleds track straight similar to cars on the road being set up for a crown in the road?

i think instead of complaining we should start helping look for a explanation, talking to yamaha through our dealers and possible solution to follow.

but we all need to remember. if you have a new car and you hit a curb or pothole you dont go to the dealer and scream for warrantee. why would you ride a sled down a trail at speed and hit 1 foot mouguls for miles on end, and when you get home notice damage then say you didnt hit anything?

they're made to be driven and will take some punishment but, their not meant to be abused. i heard someone say 10,000 miles on a sled is like 100,000 on a car. and i beleive that figure. look at the extremes we ride in, snow ice, water ect. less than perfect paved roads our cars travel on. stuff is gonna fail people.

what you do about it and how you maintain the unit will be the difference in a good time or bad. ski

Good thought, that would be nice if Yami purposely built in an offset and purposely toed the ski's waaay in for handling purposes--who knows I guess?? I dissagree that hitting a curb in a car and riding over 1 foot snow moguls on a "mogul purpose built sled" is not the same--not even close.

well, how many mouguls would you say the life expectancy of any "purpose built" sled is? i am talking all mfgs not just yamaha. these are consumer sleds, they were not designed to race, jump, and run forever in rough conditions. just like autos, stuff is gonna fail. so yes, i believe that maybe the curb anology maybe overstating the issue but, the pothole annology is very similar and pertinent.

tie rods, ball joints, A arms, suspension bolts and mounts. will fail when subjected to abuse. these are not dirt bikes, truely they are not made for what we do to them. and if you think different you are denying a truth. even the most anal person does things to and with these sleds that shouldnt be done.

how you deal with the outcome is the difference. ski

Not made to jump, I see a lot of the nytro ads with the sled a tiny bit off the ground. Rough trail sled maybe not !!!

Put it this way if it can't take the 1-3' bumps like they advertise it to, then they are not ready to adverise it to be a ditch banger plain and simple.

I have contacted my dealer filed a complaint and have a yamaha rep coming to view my sled on monday. I am doing my part to resolve the problem.

I will also get pics for you nate on Sunday night of the bottom of my sled provided I have time. I believe from looking at it that the subframe is bent not the a arms themselves but I cannot say forsure until I have the plastics off the front end.

Thanks Jamie.
Please keep us posted on the progress of your experience. Thanks for approaching this the correct way. I hope this can be an example for everyone on how to get things done. I just hope that Yamaha practices what they preach about going through the dealers for this kind of thing. You might wantto think about a separate thread for us to follow what happens.
If you can, try to draw the reps attention to the few threads that are popping up here, just to re-inforce that yours is not an isolated case.
I really have to appologize for not knowing how those sleds are put together yet. I bought mine, and have not torn it apart at all. I've just been enjoying wringing the crap out it!! I've taken the hood off once to put the air pump and bag in there, and took the belt off once. (thanks again Pro116!!!))

Nate our Rep is aware of the threads on the internet, they watch this site alot more then I think any of us really are aware.

There was an article quoted by one of the facotry people stating that they do try to watch what happens here as much as they can...
Great, I hope you get your problems resolved soon!

Not saying it's NOT happening!! As it is appearent that some are tweaking the front ends. While I haven't bent mine. I know of one that has been tweaked and he also hit nothing. Here is a pic to show you the nose frame. I wasn't snapping pics of specific areas just in general of the FX Nytro stripped down. This nose frame has been completely off this sled trying to remove the heat exchanger it's going back together now.

IF anyone wants a specific shot of something hurry I'll check back. Also there are a few items I won't take pics of.
Sorry, Jeff
