Nytro for wifey

Hi guys, how many have of you have a nytro for their significant other. I'm looking into finding a nytro for the wife but I'm having a hard time deciding if she would like it without having drove one(either of us). We have looked at one and the seating is comfortable but that was in a show room. The last sled she had was a vector and the only complaint was the seating and not being able to adjust for bumps (sitting to standing, old style vector). That being said she is not a snowXer either, but can keep up a decent pace. just looking for some real world feedback.

Have her drive a Nytro before you buy one IMHO. Lots of riders just never get used to the Nytro's "feel," which is often perceived as being off balanced/ tipee. It's also very rider forward, which a lot of riders aren't comfortable with. She may love it, but I'd have her drive one first. One good barometer is how often she stands up when riding. The Nytro is a stand up, hit the moguls, and ride sled, not a sit down trail cruiser. If she's a sit down and ride kind of gal, I'd recommend an Apex or Vector.
 
That's what I'm afraid of. but our group has gotten smaller over the years and the only machines are early 2000 models, lol. no one I know has a nytro and we were never able to make any of the demo rides around here. she has riden my apex without issue, I feel the new vector would be a better option but the pricing has blown out of proportion. she had an 04 rx-1 but that was too much by the return trip, moved to the vector and that was great; regret moving it now but a newborn will do that.

I just want something that A. she will be comfortable with, and B. as reliable as my apex

we'll see...
 
Find a used Vector and put an Apex seat on it. Many here have done it and I've yet to see anyone regret it. Much cheaper alternative to a new Vector, and if she was happy with the ride and handling old her old sled, she'll LOVE the higher seat.
 
I'd be looking for a slightly used Vector with EFI.

Someone must make a taller seat for it, and you could raise the handlebars to make it feel more "rider forward" and make the transition from sitting to standing easier.

But I think they'd enjoy that sled much more than the nytro.
 
If your plan is to get something new for your wife I would think about the 2012 Vector LTX with power steering. I rode it at the TY Demo ride in March and its amazing. It's fast, it's quiet, it tracks and goes where you want it to go, no darting or inside ski lift (on the day I rode it), and the suspension/shock calibration is absolutely spot on for trail riding. One great snowmobile for sure. I haven't checked the Vector forum to see if anyone else wrote any reviews of the 2012 Vector LTX but there's alot of people who rode them that weekend and pretty much everyone I talked to had a very favorable opinion of the new Vector.
 
My wife loves her Nytro XTX. She likes the seating on it and for the little off trail riding she gets. she can hold a line well. But like Super Sled said get her to ride one before buying one.
 
Nytro's nice once you get used to it but if she doesn't like the stand and ride idea then a new vector with power steering is the way to go.
 
Phazer

Depending on her size, the phazer is very popular for significant others. The nytro's weight can be a little too much for some. With the phazer, it's a lot easier to handle and a lot easier on the pocket book.
 
I think I'd go Vector or Phazer for my wife before I'd go Nytro. Unless I wanted it as a backup sled then I'd go Nytro. ;)!
 
I traded my wife for a 2009 Nytro XTX. I think it was a good trade.
 
no but seriously... my wife was driving one of my apex's all of last year... in april we picked up an 09 phazer RTX, she managed about 250 miles on it the end of this past winter and she was very excited for the drive... she loves it... for me needs more power, but for her its pretty good, i'm going to be modding a bit to fit our driving, but good choice for us...
