I have to say I'm pumped about this project. Sled season never ends for me it's just divided between riding and mod/maintenance and I seem to enjoy working on them as much as riding them. But what I hate is working on sleds when I could be riding, which is what brought me here.
I have another question for you guys. I want to just use a slip on can this year as I still have warranty. However next season I'd like to go to a complete system. Are there any aftermarket systems where you can use the can with the stock pipe, then add the pipe later on. Would that work with an Excell or Hindle system?
Thanks for the help guys.
Me too hate working on sleds when there is riding to be done! Excell is your best bet right now for your two stage upgrade path. Hindle needs a little more time to get things tuned in before I personally would buy one. I like Hindle's idea of getting rid of the exhaust donuts. Welcome to the Yamaha Club!............Brian

If your gonna gear down & add all those mods we gotta add a lot of weight to your drag n flies.

Yup with ya on that one. A bit of a learning curve for me moving from a doo. I've gone from selling kits and helping people tune them to getting help.
My understanding of the drag & flies is there are several locations where you add or remove weight to each weight. So there are a few more dynamics at work then adjusting weight on a TRA. I'm guessing how you distribute the weight effects how straight the shift is??

I've got a excell header and yamaheaters for sale in the classifieds both worked great.

I thought of another questions for you guys. I usually have my shox rebuilt every year and plan to do it with the SE, but what is the deal with these Float Xs. Is there more involved in having them rebuilt or are they not much different then regular shox??

revster said:Another idea is to just use XTX rails. Does anyone know if the center to center is different on the shox? I assume the rear shock in the XTX is longer. The mount points may also be different.
Thanks for the help guys.
I'm in the process of swapping out my XTX skid for a Timbersled skid. Mounting points are:
Center to center for the arm to tunnel mounts 28 5/8"
Center to center for the arm to rail mounting points is 25 3/8"

Great thanks for the info.
I went over to my buddy's place today and looked at his XTX as I suspected the skid is totally different then mine. I think I've decided to extend to 136"

When I went out west this year I wanted lots of weight transfer, so what I did was totally remove the coupler blocks. I checked to make sure the suspension wouldn't collapse too far and smash something...but it worked great. Tons of weight transfer, worked awesome for playing in the powder.
I figured I'd let you know since you'll have the same set up that I had. I jumped it, pounded through huge moguls, and drag raced...never wrecked anything running it like that.

That's interesting. Thanks for the info I'm going to have to take a closer look at that.

couch said:Go 144" with the 1.75" back country .... what a difference!!!!
That will make a huge difference! If you want to ride offtrail, get at least a 144" with at least 1.75 lugs.
Once you do that, I think your set up will rock. And with the SE, you have floats all around, right? That will ride nice also.

Float X up front and the rears are remote res clickers with the thicker shafts.

Need help with something else guys....drivers.
1) Do the ski-doo 9t drivers work on a Nytro? I've read posts on here of guys running them but then talked to another guy who bought some and said they didn't fit. I know the XP ones aren't even close but the Rev ones look like they might fit.
2) Do the rail end caps on the 121s need to be trimmed to run 9t extros....again I've read guys that have?
3) How are the schmidt bros drivers? Are they just whals?
thanks
