how much coolant for needed for a nytro xtx with the mtx cooler please?

Hey- Has anyone installed the MPI tunnel cooler yet? How was the install? Did you remove your radiator or are you running both? I'm just starting my change over and I'm planning to remove the radiator for better access and cooling.

whats the deal on the mtx cooler...

Tunnel cooler

Working on mine now. Haven't decided if I'm going to keep radiator. Also doing under tunnel exhaust, oil light front end shims and Snow Eliminator running boards. You inspired me to mod my sled on our last ride.

Hey Splaterwin, nice to hear from you again. I'm right in the middle of replacing my Mav track to a 16" X 162" CE track with 9 tooth Wahl anti-ratchet drivers. I found the reverse gear bolt sheared off, so I'll need to xtract it out before pressing on the new drivers. I'm going with the OFT extension and billet wheels and dropping the top gear 1 tooth to 19. I'll drop you a note when I complete the radiator removal and you can come over and check it out.
I was just checking to see if anone else had done the MPI tunnel heat exchanger swap out. I think out west here, the exchangers will work much better than the radiator set up. Let's set up a couple more rides this season.......

Hey Sledboy, I put the tunnel coolers on last season and am happy with the results. I did get rid of the Rad., thought it would be good to get rid of the heat under the hood. The install went all right, but I had mine up over my head on a forklift. It would be a little harder on the ground. The only thing I didn't like about them is that when you park it at night you have a lot of snow melt and drip down on the skid, and so you need to break off some ice from the wheels on the skid in the morning. I just keep a rubber hammer with me and give it a good tap before taking off it in the mornings. I noticed this more when we were out west, than when we were back in the U.P. trail riding?? Don't know why it would be any different?

????? I have a Nytro MTX and punched a hole in my heat exchanger last season, i just ordered a Van Amburg tunnel with a dual bypass tunnel heat exhanger under the tunnel and plan on just taking out my OEM heat exhanger. my question is can i also delete my front radiator? and if a decide on boosting my sled next year will it still be enough to keep the sled cool? i'd think with the radiator fluid in the rails and under tunnel exhanger it would keep the fluid alot colder than the stock setup. anyone done this yet? I see MPI had a radiator delete with there under tunnel setup but there are no pics of how they did it and how they fill it.

tbro47- I talked to Darren and Mac, both from MPI, they said if I was running a boosted sled, they recomended leaving the radiator in. Since I'm not bootsted ( at least not for this season) they found that the NA motors ran almost too cool with the front and radiator with the MPI tunnel exchanger. I'm planning on running with the front cooler on the bulkhead and the MPI unit, removing the radiator over the motor. MPI also sells thermostats that are 10 deg cooler than the stock. Apparently 4 strokes need a certain amount of heat to run consistent. On the west coast we don't get the really cold temps like you may be used to having, most of our rides are in the teens and 20's and spring riding could be in the 30s. I'll post more about my set up as the season progesses.

Thanks for the info. I plan on deleting the heat exhanger in the front of the tunnel and leaving the radiator for now. How do you know if you're running too cold? is there something i should look for in particular? if it's too cool i guess i'll take out the radiator til i bood it nex year. let me know how your build works out.

can anyone point me to where the total coolant I would need for a nytro xtx with the mtx cooler? total volume please..
