Nytro MTX Front Shocks

I've been looking into front shocks to replace the Nytro MTX shocks, and I've been looking at the Z-Broz, and the Float EVOLs.

Has anyone else had luck with these or other choices? I know some were running GYT-R shocks but I haven't heard any feedback.

I would like to know what people out there have run for the past season and would buy again. I'm not a fan of the Float's but perhaps the Float EVOLs might be an improvement.

Any thoughts from what you've run? Would you buy them again?

I didn't want to shell out for Z-Broz so I went with Ski-Doo 440 race shocks. They have to be shortened to 17.5" but other than that they bolt right in. They fit perfect in the top mount, the eye holes are the exact same size, and the bottom just needs two small washers for shims. They are very nice shocks for the price.

I thought you had floats on there nikolai? How did you shorten them??

I did have Floats but they sucked for jumping. I didn't shorten them, Jeff Miller(Miller Marine) did when he rebuilt them.

Hey Nikolai - did you need to change the springs?

I tried a set of XRS Summit Ti shocks but just rocking it back in forth seemed to bottom them out - I've still got those shocks which are nice due to compression adj., but they seem overwhelmed by the weight of the front end of the Nytro.

I have the actual 440 shocks (440 valving & springs) which are much stiffer than the XRS shocks. I can rock the sled back and forth and the shocks maybe move a couple inches max.

I'm running the GYTR's from an Apex (1" shorter). Remote rezzis, comp and reb adjustable. They have worked great with the limited time I have on them. The shorter shocks help improve the approach angle.

Thanks for the pictures and the feedback. I've got a call in to see if CR can get those Ohlins still and if not I'll either go w/ the Z-Broz or those Yamaha GYT-R units that you've shown.

I stumbled across some pricing for those Yamaha shocks on the internet (search GYT-R front shocks yamaha apex in google and it's a couple lines down) and they were shown listed at $305 or so each and discounted to $240 USD per shock. I think that's a pretty good deal considering they have compression and rebound adjustability in them. Just didn't say what the C-C distance was on the webpage so they perhaps could not be the ones you've mentioned.

Do you mind telling me what you paid for those Yamaha shocks?

I got them from the classifieds on here. I think I paid $325 for the pair.

Im running öhlins from the phazer fx w/adjustable comp. Had to take them apart and remove 3 washers to make them the right lenght. They work awesome and are not too expensive. $625 a pair here in sweden.

i put the new fox shocks off the se on my 08 rtx and sent my rear shocks out to diamond head yamaha to have them revalved! What a huge upgrade!!! worth every penny

Thanks for all the feedback and all the pictures. I phoned a couple Yamaha dealers but was unable to find the C to C for the XTX shocks so instead of risking it I ended up just ordering the Z-Broz Exit triple rate piggyback rezzy shocks for my fronts.

I've got them on one of my IQ RMK's and I've super happy with how they perform (other than their weight).

I tried a few things to save a few bucks, like testing the XRS Summit Ti front shocks from the 07 Summit, and I tried to find a couple shocks from the Swapmeet both here and SnoWest.

Tried CR to see if they had any Ohlins left or a line on them for the Nytro but didn't hear back from them so I'm assuming they didn't have any luck.

I've got a pair of Float2's that I'd like to put on the MTX, but the extended length is 16.5", or 1" shorter than the stock shock extended length. Comnpressed length matches - how big of a problem will this be?

Not a prob. As I understand it, the trail sleds run that length.
