Koke1 said:Again thanks for all this info! Ill probably just put a hauck clutch kit in this year after break in and do more for the following year. The sled I have found the best deal on has the 1.75 inch track. Do you see any issues there for general tail riding?I spend most of my time on trail. Also I was hoping to be able to get atleast 96 picks up the middle for icy conditions.
I ran the ripsaw 1.25 track for 5000 km and this year I am putting the backcountry on. As Radianguy mentioned everyone has told me that this will be the best addition to my Nytro I have made so far. I am putting scratchers on mine to make sure there is lots of snow for the slides. If it was me I would buy the Nytro with 1.75 as you will probably upgrade later to it once you start making changes.

I forgot to add that I do mostly trail riding. But now that I will be putting the backcountry track on I will be going off trail much more.
Enjoy the new sled!

As I mention in my build I had the sled for 500 miles before I put the 1.75 on. I hated the ripsaw. I would run picks either. I run a good deal on trail and love the track for anything but glare ice. Wicked hook up on everything else. Plus you'll love the ability to ride off trail when ya can or tear up log trails and forest roads. The only thing you will have to worry about is hyfax wear. I am putting an Excell wheel kit on to fix that. There are other options to address this as well. Otherwise you will love the sled.

Im more worried about how much the 1.75 would hurt top end speed when I got out on the lake. Its not a huge deal, but the last time I put a big track on a sled it had not top end!

It hurts it a bit but more than makes up for it in the fun factor IMO. I geared down 1 tooth on the top giving me. 20/39 gear ratio. Stretches your shoulders from 0-80 and i have got it to 96 on the speedo on hard pack lake. Was seeing 103 before the change. I'll have a gps speed this season.

Yeah that may bother me haha. I don't want to get my doors blown off on the lake! That's kinda why I wanted a 1.25 with some picks in it. Has anyone run with 800's ? If so how badly do you get beat? Like I said im coming form a renegade 800 etec. and by no means am I expecting the XTX to have that kinda speed without some serious performance upgrades.

You are going to lose some topend but it is a trade off for traction. I went to a 1.5 lug last year from studs and the difference was unreal! Liked it much better and I don't think I lost that much top end. Going to need scatchers for sure trail riding.

My buddy has a 800 etec shortie that we are pretty close 80 then its tail lights. I'm modded too. If your looking for that speed start looking into turbos, nytros are not lake racers but you can tape it all across the lake and not worry about melting down.

Yup that's another reason im getting the xtx...so if I decide to go turbo. My e tec was fast even in stock form, but maybe a slightly modded nytro would be a little closer with a rush 800 that is down on hp compared to an e tec. Im assuming you should smoke a 600 correct? I loved my etec but bottom line its still a two stroke so every year is wearing out losing compression and a time bomb. Mine had stupid engine light crap going on all the time. I Just got tired of it and yamahas have always been solid.

I haven't raced many other sleds but I would hope I would smoke a 600 haha I didn't have the greatest clutch setup last year but was seeing 105 on the speedo. The power difference between the 2 is so different. The doo doesn't seem fast until you look at the speedo, my nytro pulls your arms off it has so much torque. His 800 had o2 sensor problems last year and ruined our.............his UP trip. But it will do 120 if that means anything ha
Fyi I have the hurricane kit. Sleds pulls sooo much harder with it on!

From my experience (also after riding ski Doo for many years) the only thing you'll regret is that you didn't ride Yamaha for all those years, your going to love it !!!!! the torque ,the sound, no oil I can go on and on. Like in the previous post ride it first then decide what mods to do.

I think it will be a great sled...its the 1.75 track that has me a bit worried...sounds like im gonna lose top end and am going to need ice scratchers...

Ice scratchers no big deal, if you do mostly trail riding and not so much lake drag racing, again no big deal, your buddies on two strokes will let off and you'll hold her pinned at 100mph all day long.

long as trail conditions are not horrible id think id be ok without ice scratchers...once again I just have a hard time adding stuff to a brand new sled unless its performance parts.

Definitely look into an Excell wheel kit (or the scratchers if you like) right away. I say this from experience. Last year I was in the same boat saying to myself and I quote "I ride good trails and backcountry, my slides should be fine, I'll just ride it and wait till summer to see of I have slider wear problems." 4 sets of slides later and I am regretting not taking care of it right away. A lot of people say they wear to a point and stop. Well I may have been over cautious but mine wore to almost the wear line and I would change them. This was usually near 500 miles and would usually seem to wear good but get destroyed on a crisp morning ride when the trails were frozen. When I do 500 mile weekend trips I was always worried about my slides wearing out mid trip. I didn't see much of a difference in wear between the 1.25 and 1.75 in the short time I rode the ripsaw. I did 1800 miles last season. I will be getting an Excell wheel kit tomorrow in the mail and won't need to worry anymore.
Regardless of what you decide to do you will absolutely love riding this sled.
