I see that the front Nytro MTX shocks are 16.5" long, just the same as the new shocks for the 2016 front end on the Viper MTX, anybody know if they fit? Ive bought the standard MTX with the HPG shocks, and fear they are pretty weak comparing to the Fox Floats.
I also see some Ski Doo shocks are 16.5".

I rode the MTX with the coil overs on a Demo and really liked them. Cody said they are awesome for normal riding but the Floats take aggressive riding better. I would be interested in the take offs, although in all fairness I suggest you try them first.

Maybe i could be wrong, but i dont have good experience with HPG from previous Ski Doo's ive had.I rode the MTX with the coil overs on a Demo and really liked them. But im in no rush yet, maybe ill give them a try.

Just so you know. Those are not HPG brand shocks. They are ACT or Knock off FOX shocks. I don't know how Yamaha can call them HPG other than they are High Pressure Gas shocks. That said the fronts seem to be liked by about everyone. I don't see them lasting as long as a true Fox or HPG but so far so good.

I know the 2010 and newer Nytro MTX stock shocks are 17.5" c to c but the 08/09 MTX always caused me some confusion. I think they too were 17.5" but the aftermarket fox float 2's for the 08/09 Mtx were actually 16.5 c to c. I have both sets of the fox floats (16.5 and 17.5) and I actually ended up putting the 08/09 Nytro Fox Floats on my 14 Summit XM and they are awesome.
I wouldn't be worried about using/trying ur Skidoo HPG's on your Viper MTX either. They are decent shocks and can be revalved pretty cheaply to suit rider weight/style. They can be made to work very well if you have the rebuildable units.
The Fox P/N for the 16.5 Floats was 850-12-208 (16.5" c to c and 4.70" stroke) if that helps.

Thank you alot for the information, that really helps me. I know from a fact that ski doo and ac have the same bolt measurements since a buddy of mine used some stock ac shocks on his ski doo. So with you saying you used nytro shocks tells me the also fit the ac/viper.I know the 2010 and newer Nytro MTX stock shocks are 17.5" c to c but the 08/09 MTX always caused me some confusion. 08-09 had 17.5 in 2010 they went to the 16.5 when they changed the front end geometry.
