Hi,
Thanks for all the input,,it does seem that the fuel spec for the 2012's is 87,,and on their specs web page the 2011's are also 87.
This appears to be a downwrite from the 2011 owners manual.
from all the great info, I conclude that 87 is not likely to harm this engine, but a bump up in octane if available is the way to go if available.
To that end, i've decided to carry a quantity of octane booster enough for one fill, and leave the rest at the trailer.
My gut feel is that on an under square engine that is a high stepper, a slower flamefront from a higher octane will be beneficial for a number of reasons.
