Hey Guys
here's a post from last year that I made just to refresh ya minds
I did all the math for Octane rattings and they are as follows
I used the compression calculator from Rays.
http://www.turbofast.com.au/TFcompB.html
You will need the folowing specs-
Bore = 2.91"
Stroke= 2.28"
VE = 55-250hp, 66-300hp, 78-350hp
Compression Ratio = 10.1 with low comps
= 9.1 with low comps and .057" gasket
= 8.1 with low comps and .065" gasket
Boost = what ever level you would like to run
VE- Volumetric Effiency is ths
(5600 x HP x 100) / (10500 x ((4 x 999) / 16.4))
HP = desired horse power
Sea- 6000ft
250hp - with low comps and .057" gasket - 15lbs boost = 95oct- 91oct
300hp - with low compa and .057" gasket - 17lbs boost = 103oct -99oct
350hp - with low comps and .057" gasket - 22lbs boost = 116oct -112oct
Anyone with this configuration can safly run up to 15lbs boost on 92 octane pump fuel. I dont believe in running any lower octane than 92.
The rule is for every 3000 feet subtract 2 points
In the new 3k kit from MCX my head gask is .065 so this is mine @6000ft
I'm also told that the new vovlo kkk turbo can produce - 27lbs boost
250hp - with low comps and .065" gasket - 15lbs boost = 92 octane
300hp - with low comps and .065" gasket - 17lbs boost = 96 octane
350hp - with low comps and .065" gasket - 20lbs boost = 104 octane
375hp - with low comps and .065" gasket - 23lbs boost = 109 octane
400hp - with low comps and .065" gasket - 25lbs boost = 115 octane
Hope that this can help you with you fuel octane level probs.
took awhile to understand it all but make sense now.
thanx for all the help from this site too its great.
PS: These numbers are for race applications and are at wide open throttle so think about your ride style before you put high octane in and trail ride.
Also you dont want any after burn in the pipes and valves or turbo for that matter. be safe. a few points wont kill you but not too much.

How about an octane chart for stock pistons and different gaskets. Most people have not changed their pistons.

Here is calculator for this stuff. http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=23214
plug in the combo you want and it'll tell you the compression. You can get octane and hp figures as well.
4strokes are better than2
