I will be doing a oil change shortly on a 2011 Vector LTX GT. Been reading the sticky.s and so on, decided to run Mobil 1. Is 0W40 the correct oil for fully synthetic, and is the Yamaha oil filter the way to go? I am reading a lot of filters will not fit in the opening underneath in the 2011-12. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

I have been running the full synthetic Mobil 1 0W-40 for 4 years now without issue, it is great oil and has a higher quantity of ZDDP and receives excellent UOA's at www.bobistheoilguy.com

I also run Hi-Flo filters, HF-147 for the Vector to be exact. They can be purchased at most motorcycle/atv/sled shops/stores and are about half the price of a Yamaha filter. ;)!

Good luck, and be sure to not over fill.

Thanks Irv,will look around here to see were I can get a filter.

Where abouts in Canada are you CDN Viper?

I am in southern Ontario, Oshawa to be exact and get my Hi-Flo's at Clarington cycle for just under $10 bucks.

I usually get my Mobil at CDN Tire when it goes on sale, 1 ltr bottles for around $8.99.

I use the K and N filter. KN147 I believe. I like their filters because they have a nut on the bottom of the filter so you can use a normal wrench to tighten it.

I buy my oil at Canadian Tire as well. Always buy oil when it's on sale, usually 30-40% off. Usually buy the Castrol Edge Syntec 0W30. It seems to run very well in my Vector. Bought some Shell Rotella 0W40 and will give it a try next season. Have used Mobil Synthetic 0W40 as well with no issues. Bought a 5 qt. jug of it in the states for under $25 regular price at a Walmart. A very inexpensive oil in the states. I guess price shouldn't really matter alot when I only change the oil once a year anyhow, but I prefer to save a few bucks where I can.
I also live just outside of Pembroke on the way to Beachburg. Trails all open around here. A very good start to the season.
