You guys were right, when you said that the oil filters are on tight! I tried to get mine off tonight....no luck yet. I even bought a strap style oil filter wrench.....all it does is crush the filter!
Any tricks?

Had to jab a screwdriver through mine and just work it that way.

Same here, but keep a sharp eye out to make sure the crushed filter element inside doesn't get into the engine. If it did I don't know what would happen.

There is a cup style filter wrench available to fit those filters and fit with the limited clearance behind the filter.

That cup style fliter wrench is the way to go. However, if the filter is already crushed in the middle.... you should still be able to remove it with a chain wrench.... it looks like vice-grip pliers with a bicycle chain fastened to it.... you can get some serious grip and leverage with a chain wrench.... otherwise.... poke a hole in with a large screwdriver and lever it off....[/b]

If you get rid of the rediculous Rude Goldberg battery frame it's easy to get both hands on the filter.

I used my big pair of channel locks. All I had to do was squeeze into it and turn and it came right off. Just remember to put a couple of rags under it to soak up the oil when you rupture the filter.

If you use the channel locks (we call them 3-dollar pliers up here 'cause they used to only cost $3), make sure that you grip it where a continuous motion will fully loosen it off. When you squeeze, it will crumple the filter, and thats the only place you'll ever be able to grip it.
Crushed oil filter element won't cause problems. It'll just get pulverized, recirculated, and trapped by the new filter.
