Dumb question, but what oil filter wrench fits the stock oil filter for the MTX Nytro? I received one from Yamaha about 2 months ago and they said it's the one that fits the filter for the Nytro's. Today went out to snug up my filter and it's too small. WTF? I just need one to snug this one up and then I'm switching to K&N oil filters as I've always had good luck with them, and they have a nut welded to the end for easy on/off. Thanks.

Dealer must of sold you the wrong one by accident. I have been using my Yamaha one since 05 on my Vector and now on my Nytro. Now I wish I could remember were I put it. You know that spot so you won't lose it.

I just use a band style and it fits everything from the sled, to my bike, seadoo, wheeler, truck...etc

They do make different sizes yes, when you pivot the handle the band closes tighter.. So basically you just need to know a rough idea of your filter size, and then get one to match..it will fit a variety of sizes though, just dont get a big one for like dump truck filters. (they only make 2 or 3 sizes of the wrench so it should be easy to tell).. Most any auto part store should have them, And I know I've even seen them at walmart.
They are good at getting in places where the filter wall is close to an engine case, where other styles wont fit (end cap styles for example) Simply slide the loop over the filter positioned so that it will tighten in the filter loosening direction, work it back and forth until its angled enough to close and get some bite, turn, and its a done deal.
Dont bother with a rubber band style one, they dont have the clamping force you need sometimes.. This style will crush a filter somewhat on those hard to remove filters, but I've never really had one not come off with it.

Right on, thanks. I will go down to buy one today. I ended up buying a few K&N oil filters yesterday. The K&N's have a nut welded to the end so it makes it easy.
